MK IAT sensor placement
Custardpants - 15/2/12 at 06:18 PM

For some reason the IAT sensor isn't conventionally placed Danny - i expected it to be plumbed into the airfilter but it isn't. Where is it? What is this also zip tied underneath my air filter? Seems a bit strange to me as it'll be reading ambient temperature by the engine rather than the air going into the carbs?

Thanks,

Luke

If it works leave it be if you move it you will have to re-calibrate the injection system.

Isn't this a chat between you and Danny? Seems a bit odd to publically reply to Danny K

Why not just drill a hole in the baseplate and poke it through so that it reads the AIT? Only a two minute job if the wires don't need extending......

I'd rather post on here if it helps someone else in the future - and MK have rarely respond to email anyway, best to either ring them or post here.

Managed to work it out from the wiring diagram in the end and it is the IAT - despite looking different to other Busa ones. I am suprised MK don't plumb this into the airbox/filter.

From the look of it, during the mapping with the bodywork off it would read a consistent temp with the carb air, however with the bonnet on and being closer to the engine it must read a higher ambient temp than carb air when it's on the road, and would affect the engine! Would be interesting to hear MK's opinion anyway though....
