long time ago.....

Long, long time ago, I started to build on a Mk Indy.

It took me about 6 years to get to get to where I am today.

Finally 2 weeks ago the almost finished project had a run on the Autodyn .

I could not resist to post some footage (it's a bit wobbly up til 0.40)

run to 230

6 years is fine, good things take time to mature

I started with a Duratec v6 + getrag 221 + megasquirt as an engine choice, ended up with a Duratec 2.3 Cosworth + KMS.
As said good things take time to mature

Only 6 years?? Some of us have taken even longer, especially for the last 20% of the build.
Doing the big bits is straightforward. Doing all the little fiddly bits takes an inordinate amount of time (and mine is becoming severely limited).

Nonetheless, your car looks & sounds pretty good.

It still needs some work I must admit but, I think "and with me all the builders",
cars like this are never completely finished....

Sounds great, but its never wise to stand behind a car going 120mph on a dyno, you only need a stone lodged in a tyre to fly out

Paul, I cannot argue with that!

We took precausions.

The footage was shot with a camera using telelens.
The guy's doing the tuning inspected the tires (amongst other things) before starting the car.

Good man, and if it's any consolation, I paid £16,000 for a factory build (inc delivery) and I want to fit a Shift Star and other mods.
Things move on and what your target was yesterday isn't the same as today. That goes for production cars too.
I ordered a Lotus Elise 15 years ago and was persuaded to hang on a few months for the top spec' model, only to find it superseded by a pokier model a year later.
As Scott (Scootz) says in his avatar, "It's evolution baby."
I admire your tenacity. Your grin will be wider than mine because you've earned yours.

Bob.

adding to previous:

After a week driving, the clutch cable gave up, so we had to come to to a new solution.
A plate was welded to the gearbox and a slave unit was bolted on.
No issues so far (driving 200 miles):

2nd:

I noticed that some of my oil cupeling "sweat" oil (not leaking). I was told this tend to be a common problem with
these kind of cupelings. (any comments on that?) especially the one closest to the gearbox.

6 years! That all? can't be anywhere near finished

a bit daft, using ski-goggles, but hey I waited long enough...

After the first ride, it took me 1/2 an hour to wipe of the grin (and the flies)!!
It goes quick and I mean extremely quick.....

In 3rd gear I still have wheel spin, if I am not carefull enough!
