Mk brake hoses advice
macspeedy - 8/9/04 at 06:19 PM

We have had to move the bracket that holds the front brake hoses, we were putting a strain on the hoses under full lock, just to advise people to mount the braket as near to the edge of the body work and at the same height roughly as the upper wishbone, it will save a lot if grief!

also helps if you put stops on the steering rack,it does go lock to lock far too much anyway.

I noticed that the wheels do turn a lot. Could you let me know how you can introduce stops on the steering rack.

Arnie.

put a bit of plastic tube with tape round them at the very end of the steering rack ,infront of the drum stick looking things or i think some folk have used a jubilee clip

errm, i'm getting worried now, I'm sure in the dim distant past someone posted some sort of horror story about this.

Am i just imaging things, anyone ?

i tack welded a 6mm ally washer on each end of the rack the drumstick thingy hits that and restricts the lock. snoopy says use a spring that way you get an aid to self centering

A Spring ???
It will only work with self centering if it's 10 inches or more i think. And would that be accepted by the SVA people ?
I think welding an iron ring is the safest way.

Tvr use nylon washers.

I got hold of 2 poly bushes at the Harogate show and squeezed them on to the rack, they are far more flexible that the ones mk supply. It works well!
