windscreen on MK Indy
SteveO - 19/9/04 at 04:52 PM

Hi

I thought i'd show Indy owners how my Avon windscreen looks on my Indy.
I have mentioned before the wind now comes in hard on the side of the face but i'll be getting some polycarb' to make a deflector sidescreen the size of about an A4 sheet with rounded edges, hope this will channel the wind further out. Should have a pic when done.
hope it helps those asking about screens for the Indy.

Steve

sorry couldn't attach image here. it in my pics title wscreen 1/2

Hi Steve, Is there a gap under the screen which shows the raised bit on the scutttle? I can't quite see from the pics.

Make up some full side screens and those long trips on the motorway or at high speed become a lot better. I found the sidescreens a pain for those quick trips or for blasting round country lanes but the only way to go if you've got to slog 60+ miles up the motorway. Using polycarb also means no loss of visablity.

i set the screen on the raised bit of the scuttle as the rubberseal fits over it. I have 2 LARGER pics close up (wscreen3/4) where you'll see also the slight gaps where the scuttle curves downwards, i plan to cut soft ali to cover this small portion and hope it looks ok.

Zetec have you got the full side screen or side deflectors like the Cobra, which is what i have in mind since polycarb is expensive.

Full size, pic on archive. Got my 1/2 sheet which was 4'x4' 4mm for £35. Poss could get away with less as I had some left over, also you could try 3mm, but might flex a little more.

if it does two doors i think £35 is a bargain.

I had enough left to make a rear screen. Don't laugh but copied the idea from the Dax Rush lads. Just clip it in place when going on a long drive and it stops the wind hitting the back of your head.

Soft southern bastard.

It sounds like there can be no end to trying to get the wind under control. Zetec are you kow saying with the side screens the wind still hits you from behind?

It does but only to the same extent as in a production 2 seater. It's not thats it's anywhere near as bad as a screen without sidescreens. Just trying to make those long drives to shows as comfortable as possible, and as with all things kit car just tinkering!
