Rev Gauge needle all over the place ?
DODGEY RODGERS - 28/12/12 at 04:20 PM

Hi,
I've just bought a MK indy R1 ( carb'ed 2003 ) and the Rev gauge is all over the place ? Sometimes it works for a minute then keeps flicking off the end and back again and then is ok for a while then I lose it again...... Anyone got any ideas, please as its driving me made not knowing where 13k is..........
Also I want to fit a barnett clutch conversion and doe's or don'ts regarding this as Ive been told several different things regarding what springs to fit i.e.- all long or alternate short-long and even long with washers to make them tighter ? HELP PLEASE

It'll be a 1998-2001 engine, from 2002 they were all injected.

What clocks are you using?

Double up the diaphragm spring or go for the 6 spring conversion, either one will do the job fine, even standard works.

Thanks mate, its my first time on here. The clock is a standard R1 from the bike with a speedo healer attached. It worked fine when I bought it but after about 500 miles started playing up ? I have been tempted to buy an all in one digi beast but I wont to get the car running sound before this....

Hi
We had the same problem
Threw away the expensive box we had purchased to fool the ecu
That we had an exup motor, got an exup motor, removed the pulley
Cut off the shaft & fitted in the engine bay wired as per bike.
It weighs next to nothing & cured the rev counter problem for us.
Good luck
René
We ave a std R1 bike clutch & it works fine
If you find its slipping later on , then go for the Barnett clutch, easy to change with the engine in.

Yamaha use the tacho to show fault codes.

The Thunderace I had used to flick between 7k and zero to show the EXUP valve was faulty.

There's other faults that show up with other figures.

I've got a ZX9 engine with speedo healer and mine does the same. I'm sure its the speedo healer but just haven't got around to looking.

Thankyou to everyone !
Found a bypass unit for the EXUP valve hidden in car and had repaired solved everything but also uprated the battery and replaced the rectifier so all angles covered.
