Cycle Wing/Wheel Arch clearance 15" Wheels
blowden86 - 4/2/13 at 09:55 PM

I went to mark up the brackets for my Indy R on the weekend to have them bent for the front cycle wings. I was told to leave an inch of clearance over the wheel, mark it on the bracket and then bend at 90 degrees.

However, looking at it if I only leave an inch of clearance, I won't get the wheels off! I've got 15" wheels with Toyo T1R's. Has anyone got any comments or experience on this matter?

Many thanks,

Ben

maybe it depends on which company's wings you are using, but 1" is plenty for mine (Carbon Mods); 15" wheel. I don't have that kind of clearance, and I can get mine on and off (if I'm careful).

Where are you measuring your clearance from and do you have wrap around wings or the more open type?

Hi all thanks for the responses. I'm using MK's arches, they tend to wrap around the wheel a fair bit. The feedback is useful so far, I might have to mock up some sort of a jig to fix the arches in place and see what height clearance I need before I can get the wheels off!

Cheers,

Ben
