shock options
aka Keith - 2/4/14 at 08:03 PM

Looks like my shocks have blown (to use the technical term),

I have an option of getting some caterham Bleisteins, but does anyone know if they are a direct replacement? I have not been able to put the shocks side by side yet, but would like to know if anyone has swapped them over that I can learn from.

Car is MK indy with outboard suspension.

Cheers
Craig

i would highly doubt it. the narrow fronted caterhams are tiny compared to something as big as an indy. there are variousshocks that will fit though! avo, protech, quantum, nitron etc
some of the caterham bilstiens may be ok but be careful before spending your hard earned!

Caterhams also use very low poundage springs compared to most due to low leverage rates so valving will be very different to other 7 types

You could do far worse than get on the phone to Matt at Procomp and let him spec you a set of protech dampers.

He might even be able to tell you if the Bilsteins can be adapted to suit the Indy

I did look at a set of Caterhams for use on my locost, I was quite surprised at how low the springs were. After budgeting for a new set of springs I'd have been back up to procomp prices.

thanks gents, I manged to borrow a set of caterham shocks last to size them up, and it looks like they are too big.

As above ^^ contact Matt at Procomp.
He'll set up Protechs to match your car and driving style.
A day trip up there for him to fit them and adjust the rest of the chassis is money very well spent.
