Struggling to get my prop out from the tunnel, has reverse cog on it so to big to pull through. The joints don't turn enough to make the cog pivot to get out either. I'm guessing that I will have to take the diff out and pull the other way, but the gap in rear bulkhead looks even smaller! Does the cog come off the prop? Any ideas as how to do it appreciated

That cog should knock off, its just held in place by the pressure of prop mount bolts into diff.

Once that's off I'm sure my m8 that's building a Indy R at the minute said the prop goes in from the engine bay.

Its not bolted on. But It wont come loose. Doesn't look like its welded on either. Do I just need to give it some 'Persuasion'?

Before I give it a 'welt' (and probably break it), is it just stuck fast because of the pressure its been under from the prop?

Again, any knowledge given will be gratefully received...............

It might be shrunk on, try abit of heat on the outside of the prop flange. Might just slip off.

Awww, spoilsport ........ No big hammer then?

If it's a MK one its just the clamping firce of prop to diff bolts that hold it in place.

Just be careful you don't damage UJ if you try heating it up.

Hit it....

Hit it with a copper hammer
steel one may damage or break it.

All done now guys, thanks for the advice. I didn't want to whack it too hard for obvious reasons. Used a butane torch to heat up then smacked it with copper mallet, and bingo!

Off to AB Performance now tomorrow to spend some money on a new TRT one.

Out of interest why are you changing it?
Had problems or just changing/upgrading to TRT because of people recommending it?

Backlash on the box is savage. Has rounded off the teeth on the dogs in two boxes now. After speaking to several people including Andy Bates feel that a trt one will be a lot kinder, which has got to be a good thing. Whilst having the engine/box out seems like as good time as any. Have had quite a few issues with car lately, so want to make sure everything is a a good as can be when put back together.
