Mk indy Honda s2000 questions
Ray268 - 16/6/15 at 11:03 AM

Hello
My first post on here my name Ray I live in West Sussex, I bought a 2009 mk indy out of the classified on here a month ago it's a complete car without an engine.
I have started fitting the S2000 engine box and diff which seem to go in fine, I've had to modify the bulk head to get the engine back enough and the diff mountings but everything seems to fit ok. My question is while the cars striped is there any worth while chassis mods? The car is for trackday use.
I have read several posts about the rear suspension I have quickly checked mine it doesn't seem to bad (track ok and the camber changes through the suspension travel using a tdi gauge on the disc) I will be setting the car up properly when it's finished just be nice to do any mods while it's in bits.
Regards
Ray

From what I gather, you only see the rear suspension positive camber when there is load on the car and its cornering, though I may be wrong.

Have a look at yellowcabs rear upright mod where he welds a plate to the back of it, if you are running slicks they can bend pretty easily. I would assume lots of track use and semi slicks wouldn't be too good for them either, so it would be worth doing.

How does the s2000 engine sit? plenty of clearance under the sump and does the bonnet fit on still? they're quite a tall lump from what I've seen

Thanks for the reply that would make sense as it's not to bad static, yes I will be running slicks just because there cheap.
I have already started making a plate for the uprights which I thinks a worthwhile thing to do they do look flimsy at the top. The engine hangs down by 30mm and is tight on the bonnet which has a bulge in it, I've had to remove a small section in front of the bulge an inch or so but nothing drastic, I am thinking of running a 10mm strip along the top of the chassis rail just to lift the nose cone / bonnet / scuttle which will give me plenty of clearance but you wouldn't have to.

Sorry for the OT topic.

Slicks are cheap but it still costs a bomb to ge them fitted. Do you have a fitting method at home or do you know someone that does it cheap or do you pay the bonkers 20 quid per corner people want to charge?!?

I have a tyre machine at home, over the years it's saved me fortunes.
