Well, after looking at the prices of seat pads for GRP seats on some of the websites and eBay, I thought I'd order some flame resistant neoprene
foam and have a go at making some myself.
£20 got me 1m by 1m of 12mm foam and I copied the measurements/diagram off an eBay advert and an hour or so later, voila!
Even had some left to put some on my roll bar to stop me knocking my head when wearing a helmet! :-)
DIY Seat pads
Have to say, quite an improvement in thermal insulation and they seem to stop you sliding around as much too - go me loving the Locost dream :-)
They look much better than mine do
I tried after buying a pair of seats with only one set of pads but couldnt get a nice clean cut, even with a new blade
Tried scissors but no better
Yes, getting the edges clean cut is difficult - what I did is get them as good as I could and then covered the edges with black duct tape. I'm
sure in time this will come away, however for now it looks ok.
I did wonder if a hot knife or something would be better at cutting or tidying up the edges up but thought at £10 a set I'll make some more in a
few years if these are tired....I have some material left so might experiment :-)
when I needed to cut some 2inch thick foam, we found an electric carving knife to be good.
They look really good.

Yes the hot knife is the best way of cutting the foam and getting a good edge.
Jigsaw with a blade sharpened to a knife edge works ok too if you keep the blade cool.
I think we need a link to where you got the neoprene from
They look great! Hopefully I can make some and it will stop the wife moaning
Who am I kidding!
