Hi all
anyone tried one of these in a MK Indy?
My lever is about 2" further forward that I would like. This looks like it would do the job?
If anyone is running one of these I would like to here from them.....

I used a very similar design, but made it myself rather than purchase, worked a treat
I think most people use these with a type 9 box in a 7 kit, I fitted one in mine. the gearstick is in a lot better position now and you can cut the lever down to a stubbier type. I think it makes the gear changes a little bit less direct but I wouldn't change back.
Thanks. My existing gear stick is short (about 4" but moving it all back 150mm would make it ideal I think.

Used it for 4 years now and works a treat. The end of my hand brake is very close to the gear stick, but I angled the handbrake slightly diagonally which made using the handbrake easier. Going from handbrake to gear stick is just a wrist movement now.

For my MK Indy I didn't use one, but did bend the standard Type 9 gear lever further back to clear the dashboard and make it easier to use. An extension would almost certainly have put the gear lever in a better position, but I'm a little tight
On my 'Book' Locost it has moved the gearstick back a bit too far for me. I could realy do with it being about 30mm shorter. My gearbox is mounted about as far back as it can be. Something to do this winter maybe.

What length gear stick you using?
Also did you have to remove a cross bar from the Indy frame? Think I read that somewhere?

Your handbrake looks further forward than mine I think. I presume the handbrake could easily be moved back a bit?

Oh, yes. You could put it anywhere that's convenient. For me, as my arm rest on the handbrake anyway, using my natural leverage from the elbow makes it easy. You may notice it also lines up with the steering wheel too so everything is easy to operate. I like easy!

Ok so it arrived. Looks like I need to remove a cross bar from the Indy frame or it wont fit???

As you can see it will need to sit exactly where there is a cross beam in the frame.
Also In this pic you can see the difference in thickness of the slot in the the old and new lever base
Finally if you look at the pic, at the highlighted area, this is loose/spins (but I cant remove it).... there were remains of a plastic gear saddle
(in bits). But it doesnt look like the slot in pic2 will fit over this?

Hard to see the clearance between the original gear lever mounting face and the tunnel cross beam but should be enough room there.
You need to remove the plastic saddle and clean up that area. If the saddle is broken get a new one and fit it to the extension, the gear lever sits
on this. Remove the gear lever from the extension to aid fitting it to the gearbox, you might need to lower the gearbox a bit to fit it. With that
done raise the gearbox back up and see if it clears ok. If not then the cross beam may need to be moved. Dont forget to grease the areas where the old
saddle used to fit and where it now fits. The 3 bolts that hold the extension kit to the gearbox can work loose, so a little threadlok is useful. Hope

How does one 'lower the gearbox'?
If it sat about 3mm lower then it would just clear the cross bar.
There is no saddle (it was in pieces).ill need to order one.
What about the bit of metal in the highlighted pic? I can see any way to remove that.

Right... cross bar removed (no other way to install it).....
However I still cant get the damn thing on....
Seem this bit (highlighted) have some sort of crimped clip on it (I can spin it) which makes it too thick to fit the extension arm over...and ill be
damned if I can get the thing off.
Any ideas please?
