Been thinking about rear calipers and it is hard to find a setup with handbrakes.
Has anyone used a transmision brake similar to a landrover. I think a disc bolted between the prop flages at the rear could be used and perhaps a cable operated calliper as used on early Honda bikes.
Expanding the Idea you could have teeth on the outside edge and use this to work with an electric reverse solving two problems in one go..What do you guys think? Kipper

Sierra rear disk models aren't exactly scarce?

The reason I am thinking about this is I could use some lighter callipers on the rear brakes. The siera ones are a bit heavy. Kipper.

The rear calipers aren't that heavy compared to the fronts!

Lots of VWs have Aluminium rear calipers with integrated handbake mechanism. Everything from top of the range Polo's to Golfs and Passats.

They have piston sizes between 34 and 41mm. Pick the heaviest vehicle for the larger pistons and the piston size is usually cast into the top of the caliper.

Transmision brake --- don't go there powerful handbrake but very nasty as an emergency brake --- on any vehicle I have driven with them using them while moving feels like it could rip the chasis apart.

The early 90s Rover 216Gti is a good source of lighter steel rear calipers but iwould stick withe the Sierra.
