rear hub nut thingy sticks out

hub nut and shaft stick out just enough not to let me put my wheel centre caps on

space it out if you really want the covers on, or space the cover out

Yeah, I didn't fit my covers, I painted the end of the stub axle and nut silver instead.

Just grind 1/8" of end of stub and it'll fit!
Thats what i did with mine.
You'll find plenty of metal before start of thread.

Think that will work, hacksaw would take ages , i can also take the badge back off the cap and make a suitable hole in the cap ( 2mm thick ) then stick the badge back on.

Its a long shot but it might just work!

Yes - I had same issue on my offside rear and just took enough with an angle grinder for the centre to fit nicely!
