what type of araldite is it best to use for fixing these little sods to my lobro joints for my speedo. I know you're not to use araldite rapid
it's cure time is to fast... the only stuff i could get hold of today was araldite precision..has any-one used this or do i have to get the old
style araldite
many thanks
tony
I used araldite precision. But have had the prop running at much speed so will soon se how well it holds up.
Tacked them in place on the prop shaft with super glue 180 degrees apart and then put a fillet of standard araldite around each magnet. After it cured, and as suggested by ETB, covered the magnets with a strip of gaffer tape wrapped once round the prop shaft.
You could use JBWeld. It's 2 part like Araldite, works well.
or double sided tape to hold them in place with cable ties over the top, they can be removed/added to to get the right number, still there after 2 years
Make sure whatever you are attaching to them is REALLY clean - I had several magnets fly off, not because the araldite was too weak but because it
took a chunk of rust/dirt type stuff off with it. I haven't had any problems since.

JB weld is what i used. cleaned down to shiny bare metal, put a blob of JB weld on then dropped the magnet on top.
then something wierd happened........as the magnet drew down onto the lobro joint the JB weld formed itself around and on top of the magnets. they
seem to be very securely attached tho.
