kevano - 21/8/05 at 08:21 PM

been out around matlock tonight for a blast, up through chatsworth park, passing plenty of westfields all giving a friendly wave, a couple of sylva strikers and a robin hood and even a couple of mg a's, everyone seemed to be enjoying there sunday afternoon drive, then i noticed seven style style car driving towards me, so hand at the ready for a wave (or a flash) and the miserable bastard totally looked the other way in his caterham! you stuck up t#+t.
just wanted to get that off me chest!!

zilspeed - 21/8/05 at 08:49 PM

Oops - this is going to be another longggggggggggggg thread

NS Dev - 21/8/05 at 08:51 PM

it is daft isn't it!

Maybe he just didn't see??

Hope so, cos though we tend to take the mikky out of robin hoods on here, I (and I'm sure everybody else) would treat their drivers as any other car enthusiast.

I certainly don't care for cliques and the like. If somebody likes cars (or in fact is enthusiastic about pretty much anything mechanical) then they get the thumbs up and rambling banter treatment from me!

kevano - 21/8/05 at 08:55 PM

robin hood did look a bit nasty(forgot that bit!) no he def saw his misses was pointing!

MikeR - 21/8/05 at 08:56 PM

I've done the same waving at a number of cars.

Been out in a Stuart Taylor and had some Caterham owners waving happily. Had some busy doing other things (polite aren't i)

Knowing a ex tiger owner who's now got a caterham he's happy to wave at any and everybody.

kevano - 21/8/05 at 08:59 PM

yep, maybe he was just listening to the horrible sound of his k series!!

Oii !! I resemble that remark

I am now in love with the K again since about 2.00pm this afternoon.

Hellfire - 21/8/05 at 10:00 PM

You get drivers like that in any car not just Cateringvans! BMW's are very popular 'head in the clouds' drivers!

kevano - 21/8/05 at 10:31 PM

thats what i thought, obviously the bmw of the seven world

steve_gus - 21/8/05 at 10:54 PM

in the five years I had a BMW i drove it exactly the same as I now drive my Renault, and my Mazda before. And the Rovers I had before that.

I dont see beemer drivers as any different from any other ....... Mercs are supposed to be more upmarket - so why dont we get the same comments about Merc drivers?

Peteff - 22/8/05 at 08:30 AM

Because we don't see so many Mercs ? Volvo estates are my favourites. They always wave when they see me, usually in their rear view mirror just after they pull out in front of me and then don't accelerate .

DarrenW - 22/8/05 at 08:58 AM

I would hazard a guess that the C'ham driver was distracted for a moment and didnt mean any malice by not waiving. Maybe he was resetting a/c, or changing channel on MP3, or frantically trying to wipe of some dust from his connolly hide.

Personnally i wouldnt read anything into it. I regularly dont see people i know until they are very close or passed as i prefer to concentrate on the road, especially if the opportunity arises to drive sportingly.

kevano - 23/8/05 at 11:13 PM

do u have to sound so condescending or are you just having a homosexual relationship with with a cateringvan owner?that connelly hide must stop your knees from chafing!!!

LMAO Good reply.

My mate saw a good Caterham the other day. He was on a Caravan site on SW coast of Scotland. A guy pulled in with a HUGE mobile home (7.5tonne job). Next day he turned the camper around. Puzzled my mate watched for a while. The guy opened a back half height door (presumably he had a false floor built inside with bedrooms above or something). The floor of the back section lowered to the ground and he wheeled a caterham out of the back How cool is that? It didnt have roll bar as height was limited but it certainly beats carrying a scooter or towing a Smart car.

If i had the cash i would buy a Caterham so to be honest i like them.

MikeR - 24/8/05 at 12:47 PM

like them, i think they are fab. the proportions of the classic / original version are excellent.

I'd love a caterham. Still frequent this board mind you - well until the p*ss taking became too much

kevano - 24/8/05 at 11:13 PM

yeah yeah this is posted in the gt 1 and indy so stop being such arse lickers and be honest!!

Marcus - 25/8/05 at 08:56 PM

Went camping in Locost a few weeks ago. Bloke comes up to me and says my mate has a Caterham, but these originals are far better aren't they!!
Bless him, I didn't put him right, it would have been embarasssing for him!!

This is not just an english "problem"
Even here in sweden the Caterham owners and even some Westfielders think they are so much better then us

The swedish agent for Caterham seems to live in his own world.
He says that top price for all other streetlegal sevens then Caterham are about £2000

i met a bloke last week, who thought he had a real lotus 7! I said 'not a relpica?' and he assured me it was the real thing. So i said, must've cost a lot? He said 5 grand! Bit cheap i though, then he mentioned he'd just finished building it!
