Right, I want an Indy or similar! Not sure whether to build or buy a built version. More than likely buy a built version then build one next winter.
Got a few questions though,
Will I fit? I'm 6 foot and 16 Stone.
Are the seats or Peddle adjustable?
BEC Vs CEC? I plan to use it on nice summers days and a few track days.
I wanna spend between 4-5500k is this enought for a BEC or CEC?
I'm 24.. will i get insurance?
If anyone has one for offer please do not hestiate in sending me spec and pictures.

I'm 6ft 1" and 16 stone no problem fitting into the indy and i could fit a beter seat and go back a good couple or three inches,pedals
are floor up and in my opinion give you a bit more room.
I cant see insurance being a problem,you might well be suprised at speacialist/limited mileage insurance quotes.
Lots of different views on BEC and CEC,its really what appeals to you. BEC good for track and CEC for road and touring most say,but i think CEC with a
good engine can be the perfect all rounder.

you'll fit easily into a indy , my dad is 6ft and 17st and he fits in mine. i'm 6ft 2" and roughly 15st and i fit in with no
problems.
you can fit runners to the seats making them adjustable, i have the MK grp seats in mine and don't even have them all the way back on the runners
with plenty of leg room.
as for bec vs cec as everyone says try them both and make a decision, personally i've never been in a bec but i'm more than happy with my
pinto powered motor. it's very simple to work on, reliable and still leaves most cars for dead off the line and on the twisty bits!
i was 23 when i insured mine (was only a few weeks before my 24th though) cost me 300 quid a year, agreed value of 8k, limited to 3000 miles a year. a
hell of a lot cheaper than my 15yr old sierra and thats got 4yrs ncb on that policy!!

thanks for all the advice. Ive been looking at that blue one, looks like a nice motor.
He's my dilema, Would like a BEC for the 0-60 speeds, noise and being different, however the CEC for torque and probably more practical for the
roads. Not that these cars are practical. My best mate is a bike machanic so he could do any engine work for me.. lol.
Are you restricted to the size of wheels you can fit to these cars, or which wheel sizes they perform better with. I quite fancy some 18" real
low profile.

they're based worksop direction, takes about 10 minutes from the M18 so it's not that hard to find just a bit of a trek from your neck of the woods!
For what it's worth here's my view....
No problem with size, I amd 6ft 4in and 19stone.
CEC v BEC is a difficult question, I have a blade powered Indy and I intend to use it on track alot so it suits my purposes fine but if you are going
to use it on the road more then maybe a Zetec is ideal, you will not of course beat the acceleration of a BEC and if your mate knows about bikes then
that a big help.

I would say go for a Pinto Indy on the budget you are looking at. You could fit a basic 1.6 to keep the insurance down as fitting a tuned 2.0 at a
later date would be easy. That would mean you can build a nice all round package. Don't be too worried about the performance, for normal road
use, I still believe that CEC is the way to go as the performance is far more useable. I bet most of our cars end up having at least one engine change
in their life span so if you get bored with the original one bin it and fit another, hence the idea of getting the basics like
brakes/suspension/wiring done to a good standard.
I started off thinking bigger was better when it comes to wheels. Now of the opion 13" with 60 profile best, but 15" is the next best option
as tyres are cheap and big selection...The other thing is weight, just checkout the difference between 13/15 and 17...13" win hands down.

I intend to buy a built car first.. then sell this end of next summer for a winter project next winter. I am not prepared enough for a project this
winter and are moving house so it wouldnt be advisable.
The bike engined version does really apeal to me, being a biker myself. Read a few bits about having to change rear loads for normal driving.. Well my
Gixer thou, you can put in 5th and now have to change gear due to the amount of torque the engine produces, i know you will loose this because of the
weight of the car, but not all of it surely?

if im going for a steady blast i can leave mine in top gear and only have to change down for junctions and traffic lights and obviously round abouts
if its realy busy,overtaking with speed isnt a problem once im doing over 40mph.
iv had 2 bike engined cars but i can see the advatages of the car engine ,,one day maybe but it would have to have plenty of horses
Thats the thing, ive owned fast cars and i've owned fast bikes. i dont wanna jump into a CEC and be disappointed. I really want a bike
replacement and the BEC seems like a good option.
I do intend to do a few track days next year.

It is a dilema! but personally I think if I were to go for a cec then it would have to be high reving like a bec, so would have to go for a Honda
s2000 type engine but of course then you have the weight disadvantage!
When it comes to advice its always subjective to be honest, people like to shout about there own experience but to be very objective just research and
go for a ride in as many varients as you can blag a ride in!
Think i will sell the bike then take some time to have a look around at a few. just i am rather keen now to get one. Theres gotta be some nice days

some guy wants to do a straight swop for my bike.. However I want a Mk Indy...
Another Dilema...
Personally i really like the Stylus, i think it may be my next build if i dont do a 7.
There are a few Indys about at the moment, people cant seem to sell them so they are going quite cheap. If you cant find a decent BEC you could always
find a CEC which will very likely be cheaper, then change the engines over. It doesnt take much work so i'm told.
On the subject of wheels, 18s with low profile tyres is a bad idea, apart from the very harsh ride it will be very un predictable, as there wont be
much give in the tyres the back end will give way with out much warning. If you go for smaller wheels with higher profile tyres it will be much more
progessive and easier to drive close to the limit.
We have seen so many cars on here crashed within a month of the completion or purchase, it would be a shame to see another one go. To be honest though
alot seem to be people who arnt used to the power band of the bike engine and i'm guessing you will be.
Have a look at the Caterham R500, great looking car on 13s and the R400 has 14s
