What exactly comes in the full kit
ed_crouch - 30/1/06 at 01:38 AM

Chaps,

Contemplating putting in an order for full kit when I get back to blighty.

My question is, will I need extra aluminium sheet to plate the chassis behind the seat backs, or is this included in the kit. Also, when they say engine mountings on the pricelist, do they mean rubbers, or the steel (alloy?!?) brackets?

A little confused over what I get for £2495

Ta.

Ed.

The full kit is pretty good, but you will need a lot if extras, but thats down to your own choice. The Indy use GRP panels with plastic interior panels, so all the panels except the dash are included, but you might want to change some panels from GRP/Plastic to Aluminum. The engine mounts are complete including the rubber and steel. I got my kit just over a year ago, so my info might be a little out of date, but what you get in the full kit is: Body Panel (Int/ext) except boot cover/box
Full set of wishbones inc Ball joints
Full set of Coil over shockers
brake line kit (All the brake pipes)
Rear Uprights
Pedal kit (clutch, brake,accel)
Also they will modify an standard Sierra steering rack to fit (including track rod extensions), and modify the front upright off of your donor

The MAJOR parts you don't get are
Seats
Fuel tank (in fact no fuel system at all)
Any electrical (except the pressure brake switch) i.e. lights gauges etc.
Dashboard
Wheels

and of course the parts off of your donor.

I;m sure someone else will point out anything I've missed off.

nick205 - 30/1/06 at 11:25 AM

Nuts, bolts, washers, rivets, p-clips, hoses, loom, pu adhesive, elbow grease, radiator, radiator brackets, hose clips, bonnet catches, nose cone grill, windscreen+fittings, wipers............

But then that's what building a kit is all about and most of it's not exoensive and largely down to personal choice/budget so don't be put off

I bought the starter kit and added bits along the way. I also made my own ally interior panels, which IMHO look better than the plastic ones (personal choice again). Having said that, the full kit is very good value and significantly cheaper than buying bits individually.

Order, build, drive...get on with it.

I may be able to help out on the donor package front as well if you're interested. U2U me for details.

Cheers
Nick

Ed, for your £2,495 you will also get the following in addition to the list above

Interior Panels - Full set
Full Brake pipe set
Exchange steering rack
Battery tray
Engine mounts

Oh yeah and the shocks are the lighter, aluminium Protech jobbies. Not sure if you get the balljoints or the rack extensions though......

Why have mutton though when you could have Fillet steak. For similar money you could join the exclusive Mac#1 club.

john_p_b - 30/1/06 at 07:35 PM

go for the MK over the GTS anyday, fair enough the guys at mk may not be the best when it comes to playing with a computer but they always helped me out when needed unlike the other company who just crawls under his very own rock and delivers as and when he feels like it.

mandbsheldon - 30/1/06 at 07:37 PM

john_p_b - 30/1/06 at 08:14 PM

just voicing my opinion leigh thats allnot trying to cause a war. calvin came on here basically trying to sway this guy away from buying a indy and to buy a gts instead but imo the mk would be better to go for as it has a far better back up.

andyace - 30/1/06 at 09:07 PM

My GTS kit also came with interior transmission tunnel ali panels and pinto engine mounts, not sure if std but these items mentioned in W7DE kit as well

Triton - 30/1/06 at 10:45 PM

swings and roundabouts and not really much point starting a war over it.....They are all the same really at the end of the day.......Locosts with a few changes

ed_crouch - 30/1/06 at 11:43 PM

Snoopy,

Thanks for that: it has cleared a few things up.

When you say "remind them of it"...

Does that mean that some of the parts that were included in the kit no longer are?

This is not strictly a problem, just confused!!

Ed.

zxrlocost - 30/1/06 at 11:56 PM

Ive had a recent MK kit

one thing you dont get anymore is a dahboard but you get the other interior panels

mandbsheldon - 31/1/06 at 05:55 PM

You do actually get a badge !!

mandbsheldon - 31/1/06 at 07:09 PM

Not as big as a MK badge

mandbsheldon - 31/1/06 at 07:24 PM

If you would have used your head, you would have bought an MK. Now let that be the end of the matter

zxrlocost - 31/1/06 at 08:11 PM

christ ive heard it all now

mandbsheldon - 31/1/06 at 08:13 PM

Peteff - 31/1/06 at 09:15 PM

What's this then? I tried them and nearly drowned, lying adverts, they didn't improve my running either. These kits are all like comparing Vesta chow mein to the real thing, alright for people in a hurry.

for your information this c*nt here hadn't even heard of MK when i bought my kit, someone bought it then changed thier mind then i bought it off them and always had help from mk and mainly snoopy on here.

seriously if your opinion of MK owners is that low then why not just keep out of this section?

if you've got nowt nice to say and all that?

cant believe a simple question has turned into this childish debate

I wouldnt be suprised if the person who asked it never comes on the forum again

sooner they rebuild adrians wall and actually finish it the better.

A smite touchy today are we ?
call it touchy if you want, i personally just find your attitude and way of getting opinions across to be offensive.

quote:
when answered about one thing you just conviently ingnore it and move on to another, thats griping your ass
haven't got a clue what you're on about so can't respond.

And if you are so high and mighty as to think that "your section" should only be open to your type as you say, says volumes. It would appear that it ok for many to enter other section and voice their opinion so whats ok for peter is ok for paul and all that.
that just makes me laugh out loud, my point was you're in the MK section so without a doubt ppl in here are going to be in favour of MK products. i'm about as far from high and mighty as i could get.

quote:
And while we are at it who was actually calling you anything ? hmm. Not me when explaining the tampax thoery (to peteff I might add, NOT you), I was talking about small round cotton things, if you again mis-construde it then thats your problem.

you used the "tampax theory" to apparently describe the attitude of ppl who buy MK kits if you want to generalise like that it's your choice but you can't then play like you've said nothing when someone responds. oh and if your explination was aimed only for peteff to read then i recomend using the u2u option and not a PUBLIC forum where everyone can read.

well lads theres only 1 true locost..........the luego 1 with the right track and bodywork

ed_crouch - 2/2/06 at 02:11 AM

Chaps, shall we call it a day with the arguing

Opinions are subjective things: there is no true right and wrong.

Additionally, when someone speaks to you, their approach to the subject matter is conveyed in the following ways:

approx 90% is given away in body language.

7% is given away by tone of voice

3% is conveyed by the actual words.

By conversing through an internet forum, we are losing 97% of the intended meaning of the persons comments, as we cannot see or hear them.

This almost certainly exacerbated the bad start that some people got off to with Graememk aswell.

Lets just stop and breathe before typing.

Ed.
P.S. By the way, I will certainly be posting again, as this board is a goldmine!

Syd Bridge - 2/2/06 at 09:50 AM

Where's John Cleese and the Python crew? They must be here somewhere.

Do you want the full argument, or just the 5 minutes?

andyace - 2/2/06 at 02:51 PM

Sorry what was the question !

ed_crouch - 2/2/06 at 03:39 PM

Andy, the question was:

what comes with the Indy deluxe kit??

I have the answer. As do smarties. Ask Triton! Hes got them on his avatar...

I need to get out more...

Ed.

whitestu - 2/2/06 at 04:49 PM

Going back in the thread a bit, should I have got badges with my MK Delixe kit?

I didn't get lock nuts for the front top ball joints, but these should be on their way soon.

gttman - 2/2/06 at 07:25 PM

Badge?
what like a blue peter badge for building an Indy?

Ya know I didn't get one of those in my deluxe kit either!

On a serious note, I built an Ultima a few years ago and I have to say that I have been hugelly impressed with the Indy kit.
I'm sure others are good but the quality and value of the Indy is awsome IMO.

mandbsheldon - 2/2/06 at 07:51 PM

bet there's no key ring with a GTS
