You may not need to know this but ill share my SVA experience with handbrake cables.

1. Make sure the cables where they fix to brakes cant touch any bodywork when handbrake is applied. mine just say touched fibreglass on one side and was a fail point. I trimmed the panel to pass - also had the cable supported with p-clip onto chassis.
2. Take care how cables are fixed to handbrake lever. I wasnt allowed to cut the cable and re-join with u-clamps. Since then SVA centres have been advised to pass this as long as 4 clamps are used - 2 each side of quadrant. I had to change mine to allegro cable with proper nipples and a T-bar made out of angle iron. The U shaped bits that the nipples fit into started to open up at the test -(thin crap material) so a quick temp fix was needed to rectify. If you have crimp ends fitted yourself you may need to provide evidence how they were done (some centres dont ask - mine was picky).
I also fixed a plastic shield under the top chassis rails just above the T-bar so that itcould not bounce when handbrake was off and risk contacting a brake / fuel line.
