clutch cable?
skydivepaul - 13/3/06 at 11:19 PM

you may have seen a previous thread in which last Thursday I took the MK to holeshot racing for a dyno tune. After a morning of loading / unloading the car strapping the car down on the rollers and warming the engine up ready for the first run the bloody clutch cable snapped
Still could have been worse i could have been out driving on the road.
Anyway I went out and bought a brand new R1 clutch cable>had a quick look at the original cable and it looks like a ford item.
Seeing as i cheated and didnt build the car what do you normally use for the clutch cable - -Sierra or bike engine??

MNR do a real heavy duty clutch cable, very nice (and reflected in the cost! )

the choice is yours, did your cable snap or did it just pull out of the end?

cable had snapped / frayed at the point where it goes through the bulkhead to the clutch pedal. I need to look to see if it is rubbing on the hole

Paul,

you can buy all the necessary components (inner cable, outer sheath, nipples etc) you need to make a clutch cable, from Vehicle Wiring Products by mail order. You can then make it as strong as you wish

Thanks for the link hellfire.
I am fitting the R1 clutch cable that i bought as the outer cable fits good. I need to extend the wire innner to fit the clutch pedal properly.
Thanks again

Paul

putting a rubber (grommet) will help there
