That was lucky

just been out for a 1 hour drive before the weather turns. nearly got home when what felt like clutch slip started. then u heard rattling so stoped and jusmped out.

The drive shaft had come undone from the rear diff. i was very lucky it did this at low speed, if it had happened at earlier higher speeds and locked up i would have crashed my baby.

drove back the 1 mile at 5 mph hopeing not to damage it. lots of lock tight later and all looks fine. my w/e is now full by changing all the normal nuts and bolts with lock tight versions.

phew!

The other one to check is the one that holds the top wishbone to the upright.

there's an easy solution for the above problem.

it's called push in shafts

and people tell me they're pauper spec! safety spec they will now be called

White marker paint is the easy of keeping an eye on things.

I have a tipex pen lying about the garage when i was torquing up all my bolts, easy enough just to put a line so the bolts can be checked easily before a run.

Also good for marking metal before cutting and easy to get off aslong as you dont leave it a month or so!

We call it engineers white.

marker paint

I'll go along with that, tipex is a handy trick.

I checked mine when this was mentioned a while back, thread lock is a good idea but make sure everything is clean before applying.

Tightened them not too long ago!

The other side is fine, it had to be the side i cant get to without removing the nitrous bottle and bracket. Oh CV grease is nice to clean up isnt it! lol

I have done the tipex pen trick, so will keep an eye on them from now on.

Still going to check all bolts at the w/e. Just for piece of mind.

Tim, i found the oil leak, its the o ring on the oil cooler. Also took alot of slack out of the gear change, cut and reshaped the pedals for my feet and added a stronger spring to the throttle. Its better intraffic now.

great car, lots of fun. erm....lots of noise at 7 am getting ready for work. hehe

I'm really pleased that you've spent more time fettling and driving in a few weeks that I did in a year!

Very jealous of you (and everyone else on here) now that the weather is brightening up!
