New MK
rpsmith - 19/6/06 at 09:21 AM

Just seem the pics on the previous post from the Newark show with a photo of the new MK with inboard front suspension.

Does any know if this is available to buy yet and if so any prices.

Am in in the process of stipping my donor and plan to build an MK Indy, but i fancy the look of the inboard suspension

Thanks

Richard

I'm pretty sure it's available. As Hellfire says give them a buz on 01909731187.

Speaking to Baz on Sunday they'd taken a few pre-orders, but weren't actually selling it until it's been tested and proven on a track. So you may have a little longer wait than you'd like, but it may well be worth it.

Notice they've gone for the Dax-esque rear-sloping rollbar too. Strange it had no rear stays as presented too?

Not to worry, still got plenty of work to be getting on with.

Think i will wait and save my penny's

Yeah, I noticed that and thought it should be sloping forwards if at all (as Caterham). Looked wrong to me. The rest of the car looked pretty good though - except for the Virgin Mobile graphics - I hope they're paying for the sponsorship!

what do people think of the suspension rocker pivot point on the front inboard suspension??

(have i described that right?? the rod goes from the wb to the rocker, which is pivoted and the other end is fixed to the coil over)

do you think its up to the job... will take lots of stress there and looked like it was fixed to chassis on one side only??

stands back and awaits being shot down in flames

Ansys thinks it's up to the job

Was Ansys asked the right questions? Not seen the design myself so can't comment on the design its just the engineer in me asking. I have spent plenty of time collecting data off different vehicles and doing analysis where the FE said it was ok but they kept on breaking.

I use Ansys every day at work. I've not just picked up a copy and thought I would give it a go

Fair enough - plenty of people do tho.

If it wasn't for that I would never have got started on 3D CAD. I do have legit versions of Solidworks now

The car is still to be tested anyway and we were considering bracing the pivots just for aesthetics
