Fuel tank and sender unit?
Hursty - 27/6/06 at 11:39 AM

Hi

Just got a brand new fuel tank from MK but cannot figure out where the fuel sender unit is supposed to fit? I kept the old sierra one but this obviosly will not fit the tank. The tank has an inlet and out let point and also the larger opening for the fuel filler pipe.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to resolve the problem. Do I need to drill a hole to accomodate the old Sierra unit? Is there a sender unit that would do the trick and fit the existing tank and if so where can I get one? Any advice would be great as I am now stood scratchin my head, among other things....

Best get your drill out. You need to cut a hole to fit a sender. I used one from Greengauges.com but I have their gauges too.

Don't forget the tank prob has a baffle so make sure you don't cut the hole in the wrong place!

Thanks for the speedy reply, I guess I can stop scratchin my head now!

Also intreasted in this. How do you fix and seal the unit on?

You cut the big hole for the sender and then smaller holes for the self tapping screws (Don't drill too bigger holes for the screws !!!!!). There should be a cork or rubber seal with the sender. You will probably have to bend the arm to fit inside the tank.
