Indy Seatbelt Mounts :(
mad4x4 - 2/7/06 at 09:42 PM

Mr sva say's there too low

I have taken 2" out of the seat but still they are too low.

Asked Mr SVA (in aberdeen)about spacers and he said no I'd need to raise the anchor point

Seats are clicky

Due to having chrome cobra style rollbars I cannot easily weld in a horizontal bar like so many.

WHAT DO I DO

2" out of seatbase

Prior to Seat mod

Rollbars

Can you put some spacers to mount your harnesses higher. Mine are on bush crush tubes with M12 bolts through. Gives you about 40mm.

Are your seats on runners? could you take the runners out and bolt straight to the floor temporarily?

They look the same as the rest on the MK mounts.

Think its just the height of the seat base thats the problem, same as with the Cobra 7's they just scrape under with no runners attatched and bolted straight to the floor.

Make a plywood and foam seat and put it through SVA with that.

Post SVA put your nice seats back in

Get him to push 'Nigel' down into the seat to simulate a person sinking into the seat. My MK passed with Cobra 7s WITH runners by talking the inspector into doing this.

Hi Mate, I had the same problem and so I made this;

seat belt mod' finished/fitted
seat belt mod' finished/fitted

Passed SVA at Nottingham no problems.

Now that is one Idea I like, needs to be worked through a little for my application

could it be made out of round bar?

It could be made from almost anything so long as it's strong enough. I used 2mm mild steel plate with a centre web to strengthen the folded joint.

More pictures in my photo archive under '2005'.

Best of luck.
