Rear wishbone lock nut.
Metalhead - 4/10/06 at 03:20 PM

Hi all,
My first time posting here so bear with me

Does anyone know the size of the thread on the rod that passes through the top rear wishbone tube? It's the bit that allows the camber to be adjusted if that makes sense?

Mine had lock nuts tightened up against each other holding this together which undid themselves causing a "moment" . Is there a more secure method for doing this? Nylocs?

Cheers people!

Welcome!

I've had the same worries (but no 'moment of unique occurance' as yet!).

Maybe I'll look at getting a large diameter nylock now as well!

The nut size is a M20. They are not readily available. Phone MK and explain.

I had the same prob 2 weeks ago. Noticed just in time. Just about to leave the pub when i knocked the wheel, and it moved side ways 5mm.

Now secure with Loads of Locktite and had a Friend fit a grub screw to each of the outer Nuts.

Cheers Nige

Thanks for the help and the welcome guys. Seems like a nice friendly forum this

I'll give MK a bell then. Shouldn't be too hard to get hold of M20 ones though. Then again it looks like a very course thread to me so maybe thats the problem with availability?

Standard M20 nuts are no problem to find but they are M20 Half Nuts. (On mine they are anyway). The 2 main suppliers i use dont stock them but will order if i want 1000.

I drilled a hole through it and fitted a split pin (didn't have any R clips that size)
