wheels

Hi

I've been reading the threads after looking at wheels today and I'm slightly confused

The manual states an ET38 offset for a 15x6 wheel. I've seen plenty of nice wheel designs but the widths seem to start at 6.5

From the thread I understand that the offset and wheel width are interlinked so can anyone summarise for idiots like me max wheel widths for Indy and minimum offsets you can use without causing problems with arches front and rear

thanks

You are correct in saying that the wheel width and offset are linked. The offset is purely the amount of distance between the hub face and the centre line of the wheel. To use a 6.5" rim you will need a ET32 to get the same amount of clearance on the inside of the rim with 12mm required on the outside. Alternatively you could go for an ET44 and get the same clearance on the outside and 12mm on the inside. This link might help to shed a bit more light.

thanks for that it cleared up some of the confusion with offset and wheel widths

so if a 15x6 wheel with Et38 was fitted how much less offset could I afford before the wheel wouldn't fit the arch on an Indy?

Can anyone help with that question

Couldnīt get the calculator on that page to work.
If I go from 15x6.5 ET38 to 15x7, what offset should it be on the new wheels.
Iīm thinking about ET42

Using the calculator, a 15x7 ET42 will give you 2mm less clearance on the outside and 10mm less on the inside.

will give you the same inside but 12mm more to the outside. You don't really qualify what you are trying to achieve by asking what it should be. Are you trying to fill the arch more or maintain clearance for the inside?

I want to use other wheels and the new ones only come in 7" widht. The wheels I have now is very close to the outer arch, so I only want to increase the width on the inner
