What engine's in your Indy?

cossiebri - 15/12/06 at 09:28 PM

Excellent vids, what set-up/camera are you using? clear picture and sounds(love the sound of a bike engine being screwed!)

Thats one quick R5!!!!!!

Moorron - 15/12/06 at 09:37 PM

its a cbr1000F engine. i take it too 10500 rpm but in some of the vids it was still coldish and i dont want to rag a cold engine. i only just had the car then so wasnt sure about traction. the donut vid was my first attempt even at one at wanted to know how it 'snatched back' when it gripped.

My mates 5 has had 10k spend on it (not just the engine) pushing out a proved 250 BHP so i wasnt too upset he could pull away.

its one of those bullet comes (cant remember the link was about £120 i think) plugged into my sony digi8 camcorder. the mic is tucked into the passenged seat to stop picking up wind sound (unless i loose control of the car lol). The cam is tie wrapped to the roll over bar with some sponge tape to stop vibration.

Paddle shift looks to work well!

An interesting vid - is the blue car a golf r32? it seems to have the grunt through the mid-range that the bike engines lack - he's ahead of you until yours really comes on song at which point he's braking for the car in front.

What does your rev counter read at FSD?

If its 11,000 rpm you never really got into the power band of these engines!

Whats the diff and wheels you're using out of interest?

Cheers

Geoff

fsd?

3.62 diff and 17" alloys with 215/40. i hit top speed well b4 any of the corners.

it was the r32 golf, unknown owner so dont know if its modded.

Bloody farmers.....I love buzzing tractors!

timmyb - 16/12/06 at 09:13 AM

Nice one!

By any chance, is that the old Fosse Way? Looks very familiar, but I'm not certain.

Which paddles shift do you have on it?

TimC - 16/12/06 at 10:30 AM

Will have a look tonight... Good to hear she's going well.

Winston Todge - 16/12/06 at 11:30 AM

Ditto the R5 comments... Bloody quick!

Confused but excited. - 16/12/06 at 05:13 PM

We now need a green 'smiley' for those of us that are extremely jealous.

Moorron - 16/12/06 at 06:14 PM

not sure of the road name, its from wrexam to the A41 little chef island. i dont know that route as i normally carry on the a41 to get to demon tweeks.

Not used the nos yet, will do next summer tho. Just got to finish the bits here and there first. Alloy tank, grp seats, new dash and sort the engine smoking problem.

The paddle change was pathfinders off here, but i modded it at work as i thought it was abit weak for my forcefull change. Also added some needle bearing to the ling in the engine bay as it was sticking with just nylon ones. Much better now.

cheers for the comments.

Ah... what a machine - still the King of Bling! CBR1000 with that small can sounds awesome too.

Had a text off one of the brothers who built it - pleased to see it being used as intended!

Keep us informed on the weight saving upgraders.

hi mate BEC vids are alway fun

but my r1 Indy would leave an r32 in tyre smoke till the limiter 122mph

have you had your car weighed or a power run etc

ta chris

Moorron - 16/12/06 at 09:32 PM

cheers tim. if only i had recorded some of the other trips. why is it that u have a bit of run when u arnt recording? lol

i weighed the car at 566kg, i havent had the car tuned or Rolling roaded yet, but i attend a few a year with the reno 5 club so will chuck it on next time.

Just added a naca duct in the nose to get some cooler air to the filters. will post a pic in the morning.

zxrlocost - 16/12/06 at 10:22 PM

hi mate engine is obviously an early one

Id swap the wheels for some smaller team dynamics like what mine had

or 15" still look good

swap seats for fibreglass

and take NOS set up out

that will make a big difference

I think your 566kg sounds a bit much?

Moorron - 16/12/06 at 11:42 PM

yeh 566 did sound too much but i trust the scaled we use at work to weight chassis.

i got my gf's ford puma 15" alloys nocking about so i am going to stick them on, even if its just to 'wear' the rubber thats left on them lol.

my aim is to get it to 500kg without loosing the looks. seats being the biggest change i think.
