Wow - looks like he's got quite an attitude.
Is he a Devon whatsit?

Close, he's a Sphynx, but not too far from a Devon Rex

Did anyone watch Hogfather last night + sun? Looks like Death

RazMan - 19/12/06 at 10:58 PM

Wonderful looking fella. I am allergic to cats but love them to bits I was hoping a Rex (or similar breed) would be ok for me but I was told that despite being ..... erm well bald they would still be a problem. Do you know if this is true?

Marcus - 19/12/06 at 10:59 PM

'That thing's never seen a cat - it's EVIL personified

bilbo - 19/12/06 at 11:00 PM

This one's been shaved, a lion trim I think and you can see how pleased he is with the result on his cheerful little face. Rescued attachment cattrim.jpg

quck googling seems to indicate it s a protein in the saliva that causes the problem so when a cat grooms itself, it will leave this on its fur (or skin in case of hairless cats).

Presumable since sphinx and rex to some extent have less fur these is less of it.

Some breeds are better, in particular the Siberian (which incidentally I've not heard of) and Abyssynian are better for suffers. Maine Coon gets a mention too. (seem to recall the Bangal, like mine, but may be wrong on that one).

I've got a Maine Coon and a Bengal - I've had guests who claim to be allergic to cats who have had no problems with ours...

The maine coon is a HUGE cat - he currently weighs in at 24lbs which is a little small for the breed - everyone loves the Bengal though - i suppose because he looks like a minature leopard type thing....
