Hi all,
I'm hoping to start the actual construction of my indy (pinto powered) in two weeks. Ca anybody tell me how much welding is involved (rad mounts,
seat mounts etc.)
cheers,
Sebastiaan
I can not think of anywhere on my chassis where there is an extra weld.
Only welding on parts in 3 areas,propshaft/sump reduction/steering link.
Everything else is bolt on,you will have to make a few little brackets for rad and fan.
I second bob. We have welded a few brackets together, but not actually welded the chassis, evertything has been fitted to the chassis using rivnuts or pop rivets.
thanks! so i'll have to make up another excuse to buy a welder then
SORRY
I forgot there was one modified part on the chassis,i fitted a gearstick extention and needed to cut out a strengthening bar on the top of the tunnel
and move it back 150mm's.
Obviously not everyone has to do this, but i wanted the gearstick in line with the steering wheel.

i agree theres not much to weld on the indys a few easy brackets .
mine is the earlier version de-deion that invloved more drilling holes and welding .
simon
i had to weld a couple of brackets on after i cut the original hanbrake mounts off to use a metro h/brake but there again i already had oxy acet, arc
and mig
everthing is mounted with those magical rivnuts
tony
I welded a few brackets for the rad and a few brakets for connecting flexis to pipe for the brakes
mad-butcher:
quote:I hope you're using the serrated ones, otherwise they will probably vibrate loose (even if they've been set with a pneumatic tool), making it virtually impossible to tighten/untighten the fasteners.
