fitting the differential

I have placed the orginal sierra bolt through the bottom bracket and differential, but I am having trouble fitting the top bolt!

It seems that the upper wishbone brackets on either side get in the way of the head of the bolt, so the bolt goes in at an angle, or tries to. It passes through the hole in the bracket, but will not go further. I dont want to try to tap it in, for fear of messing up the threads or diff.

Can someone help please?

That is if you understand what i'm on about above, i'm not sure i do!

You dont use the long top bolt. You need to put a M12 cap head through each side from the insde out.

i was never very good at this leteral thinking thing
or reading instuctions for that matter, i have just realised
just too eager

It is possible to get 1 long bolt through but it is a very tight squeeze!.

It only just misses the top wishbone mounting bolt (if its the bolt side.. if you've got the nut that side it may not go in!)

It had me going for a while aswell, instruction not brilliant.

i'm afraid its the nut side!!
I have also just realised that I actually have the cap heads, and bought them specifically for this job!!!
My memory shouldn't be that bad, I'm only 18

toughened threaded bar works with a lock nut each end. Don't use the b&q threaded bar, it's soft.

If you've got the original top bolt, then use that. As MKIndy7 says, it does go in. Just slacken the lower bolts and give the top one a tap to get it through.

I am using the capheads now, seeing as I bought them I may as well put them to good use!
So if anyone needs a spare differential bolt, just give me a shout
