I've got the MK shortened Sierra rack on my car. Can I just buy a quick rack kit (pinion and rack) and put it in my rack casing or does the fact
it's been shortened complicate matters?
Cheers,
Matt.
You'll need to get the new rack part shortened to suit the shortened casing. Should be a case of cutting some off the end and
re-drilling/threading for the tie rod. You could use your existing rack to get the length right, but would want to get it done using a lathe so
everythings square and accurate.
I'm considering the same mod myself BTW.
I believe that MK or MNR or others will sell you a ready shortened quick rack.
I got mine from MNR and would n't want the old slow one back.
Cheers
Mark
I see MNR do quick rack kits shortened to your requirement for £90 which looks like a good bet. (I'm sure MK could do similar).
Is there anything difficult about fitting the new bits?
As far as I know, I have the shortened standard Sierra rack (shortened by MK) and have 2.9 turns lock to lock, so, if you shorten a quick rack would
you have around 1.5 turns

thats a veryquickrack!
Im wanting to get one for mine too!
I spoke with Chris at MNR recently via email who said the Sierra racks they sell still need shortening. The price on the web site did not include
shortening.
I still hanker after a quick rack, although I've got used to the standard rack there are a few sharper turns where it would help. Having just had
the suspension setup is it possible to change the rack without damaging the geo?
