Side panels

Hello,

I'm just getting to the stage of fitting my side panels. After cutting the notch out to fit around the steering column support I expected it to be a flush fit but the tube that has the top wishbone mount on it is protuding by 4/5mm (photo below hopefully).

What have other done to sort this?

Should I cut a slot out of the side panel, grind the weld down, or something else?

Any suggestions gratefully received.

won't you need to cut a hole at that point anyway for the wishbone to pass through the side panel,

edit to say
Having looked again it looks like a undressed weld probably best to flat it back and re coat in that area

Grind/file the weld flat before fitting the panel would be my approach. My Indy chassis needed a bit of fettling here and there to get a good fit on some parts.

A shame if you have a powder coated chassis though

Thanks for your responses.

I thought that was going to be the answer, but didn't want to mess the powdercoat up.

Nevermind, at least it won't be visible when the panels are fitted.

Cheers
