attaching front wings
jabbahutt - 22/10/07 at 12:37 PM

Afternoon all

Just about to attach the front wings to the stays.
What is the best way, round head bolts or pu adhesive.

Any problems with using either method.

Thanks
Nigel

benefits of PU are that there are no bolt heads visible, and its a stronger fixing. drawbacks? you cant take the wings out if you need to.

benefits of bolts are easy fitting and removal, and IMO look better.

blots are unslightly IMO but are easier and you end up with holes in the wings - if you drill them in the wrong place ....

glue is more forgiving as you can always remove it and wings are back to how they were for attempt no. 2.

also easier to sell undrilled when you save up for the carbon firber ones

make sure the metal is nice and wide to give maximum grip - consider fibre glassing over for additional support.

PU if you never want to remove them.

Plaster the bar in it.

Push the wing into it.

Generously coat the bar all over from underneath.

1000 miles and 2 track days and they haven't even flinched.

Pat...
