Can anyone confirm the size of front discs required. MK front uprights & MK calipers. I believe the ones required are 260mm dia. Is this correct?
The discs off a standard Sierra are240 dia.
I am sure they must fit (hope they do).
I think the 260 dia are from the XR4i.

The problem is...
Front uprights/hubs are from standard sierra. Calipers I am told are the same as XR4x4. So what size discs 260mm or 240mm? Or does it not matter?
If you fit the caliper to the hub you should be able to measure from the centre of the hub to the outside of the pad, thus giving you the correct disc
size. Your only problem might be if the hubs and calipers are different on the XR4x4 and then you might need a compromise on the disc. The other
option would be to get standard calipers.
Chris W had some 260 discs going cheap.

I don't know if this helps, but...
I got brand new uprights from Martin ( I assume 'normal' sierra as I wasn't told otherwise )
I then bought 2 XR4x4 front calipers from the scrappy, went to the motor factors to get discs, and by looking at his book, the XR4x4 and normal
calipers were different part numbers, but identical in every way, as far as we could tell
Therefore I put the calipers on the uprights, and from centre to inner edge of caliper was about 133-134mm - therefore a diameter of 260 was chosen
Went back to motor factors, bought 260mm disks, and they fit perfect - a few mm clearance, and all of the pad lined up fine with the disk.
Hope this helps, as it confused me at the time!
Adam.
I'll measure mine tonight but I'm pretty sure the standard Sierra is 240mm and the XR4x4 (and maybe the 4i aswell) 260mm.
Chris
Adam, thanks for that. Pretty much answers my question. Cheers
I had calipers off an ABS equiped DOHC car and they are also 260mm, and the rears are also the same as the XR4i. Might help someone if they are searching for the larger brakes. I got my EBC greenstuff discs and pads from Tiger who were by far the cheapest I could fined.
Apparently, or so I've been told EBC have a price agreement that the price they quote is the price they sell at. So, whether you are in Yorkshire, Cambridge or the moon they are the same price wherever you go. Is this not true???
I paid about £76 for the discs and £35 for the pads from my local motor factors - that is for spotted & grooved 260mm discs, and green stuff
pads.
Is this about right?
Have a ring around but also try Tiger, things might have changed but I thought price fixing was a no go now.
Price fixing a 'no go' are you awake?
It was supposed to be outlawed but who is policing it?
Bought some others now - Rossini. Genuine Italian Disc's so I'm told. Probably bought casting's from China £3 and machined in Italy for
£4 - Total £70? Who's price fixing? These prices are accurate!
Disc's and Calipers do not assemble...
Either:
Disc's are wrong - they are 260mm diameter but offset is too small, needs another 5~6mm to be in the middle of Caliper.
OR - Caliper isn't from 4x4.
Either way - something is seriously wrong.

if youve got standard hubs, and now think you may have standard calipers then you would need 240 dia discs which have an offset of 34mm (just
measured).
Any body want to buy some 260mm dia discs.(sorry couldnt help it)
Turns out that Caliper is NOT XR4x4. Discs are correct dia. ie 260mm but offset is greater. Anyway, exchanging discs midweek so problem sorted
Glad to hear your sorted, what are the calipers off.?
MK-Jinja
Disc's are new from MK to suit an XR4i.
Sorted...
Cheers anyway!!!
