I've now built up the front suspension and steering for the first time on my Indy. I now have to make the decision of how I fit my side panel
before I do up the Nylocks.
Do I cut holes for the suspension arms, fit the panel and then refit the suspension or do I just cut one big hole for all of the suspension and fit
the panel over the arms.?
Opinions, experiences and pictures please to everyone who's had to do this already.
Thanks,
Mark.
Cut neat holes it will look better....imho that is.

heard of cardboard??? fab stuff
Holes holes holes
Much neater. Just pop down to sainsburies and pick up a selection of cardboard boxes as you will make many a template before you get it right.
You have hours of glorious fun ahead of you!!!
Good idea with the cardboard, I was wondering how to measure it out.
How much room do I have to give each arm?
The car is on axle stands at the mo so how do I work out what gap to leave for suspension setting and travel?
Now thats the art, so look at the pic a few entries in.
The bones are V's the brackets for the top bones are just inside the panel so an elongated hole allows them in. The brackets for the bottom bones
are deeper inside so you need to have a slot at the front to let them in.
You just tape the card in the same place as the panel will go, braek out the sissors and cut away until you have big holes in the right places. Now
start to tape the holes over until you end up with the ideal. Just make sure you can insert and remove the bones, steering rods etc.
I then used some U piping to finish off mine neatly.
Ive just left mine cut short, but I am just lazy, but it does help to get plenty of air in the engine bay.
Depends on what panels you were supplied with. My panels were already cut short.
I Didn't think they came with long sides know iv had my car 5 years and they came with cut off sides
I haven't even put them up next to the car yet. They're still in the bubble wrap.
I'll check this weekend and let you all know.
I went down today and checked, My panels are already short.
My panels where short to.
How is the build going mark?
Slowly, I keep finding myself at a loose end.
I really need to get some assorted nuts and bolts. Also I wish I had sorted out my donor parts before I collected the kit as I'm now finding
that I'm ready to fit parts, but they're not ready to fit to the car.
So far I have done the floor, suspension, steering and moving onto the drive gear and brakes soon.
Also I've now got most of the parts I need to make my electrical system.
The annoying thing is that the Head Gasket blew on my tin top this week so now I have to prioritise to get this done first.
