Sorry Wheels again
paulmw - 9/6/08 at 06:47 PM

Am about to spend the thick end of £500 ish on some new wheels and tyres so want to get it right.

Will the team dynamics 15 X 7j ET 38 with 205s fit the new chassis

I currently have 7 spoke Fords with 195's. I reckon the rears will be fine but the front wheel arches dont look like they could take a wider wheel

Thanks Paul Rescued attachment DSCN0051.JPG

195 to 205 is a difference of 10mm.

That's 5mm each side.

So just check whether you could squeeze another 5mm each side under you're arches. And if they are not perfectly central then adjust them gently the way I showed you

I will have to dust off the persuading hammer

After our run yesterday I definatley need some better wheels Steve. I did get challenged by a c*ck in an RX8 at the lights and even with cartwheels on I managed to show him a clean pair of heals (not to difficult I suppose with 170bhp)

So that's you and Derek that had races on the way home!!!

And not a mention from either of you on my method of departing the junction at oulton

It's not better wheels you need Paul, it's better tyres. Better wheels would be nice, but get some decent tyres first and get it set up properly. You will be amazed at the difference!

Can't see anything wrong with them wheels I'm running scabby TSW Razers,
must agree with what steve says on tyres I run toyo 888's and what a difference they made, no good paying good money for new wheels then finding it still handles like a bag of shite (not yours personaly just in general) can't you borrow a set of 205's just to see if it makes a difference

It was indeed most impressive. Tail out tastic. It'll be a while before I get that comfortable with my car again!
