What do you think of this Hood??
We got this made for our Indy and MK saw it and liked it and are interested in selling them for us.
So we are bringing one to the Show in Newark and it should be on display there over the weekend if you are interested in checking it out?
It's made to fit the windscreens that MK sell.

You will need to contact MK for a price as we are over in Ireland and the shipping cost for it would be pretty high from here, so MK are going get
over a number of them for stock and so will look after selling them in the UK.
On the fitting side of things all that is required is for 15 pop receivers to be pop riveted to the boot panel, the hood frame to be fixed to the
outer left bolt that is used for the roll bar (if you have the welded type you will need to drill a hole for this), the material to be glued to the
fiberglass window bow and for the hinges to be fixed to the Windscreen pillars for the doors. It should take less than a hour to fit it (with the
assistance of a second person to keep the tension on the hood).
It will come with full fitting instructions as well.
Also the material is Everflex and for now as Henry Ford once said you can have it in any colour you want as long as it's black. We will be
looking into other materials (Duck and Mohair) and colours in the future if there is a demand for them.

my reaction when i saw around £500 quid was a bit 
but then it'd save so much ball ache long term so i might be making a call to mk when
i've got some pennies in my pocket again.
did they give any idea when they'd be avaliable?
Not really feeling the Silver Cross pram look. Obviously someone has spent alot of time designing and making the gear but doesnt it detract from the point of these cars?
When we were designing it we looked at a number of different options like using the roll bar to support the hood but I am 6ft 2in and when we tried
this it looked like it was pregnant with my head poking up into it so we went with the pram look to give enough height for anyone up to 6ft 5in.
I understand where you are coming from with your comment and I agree this hood will not be for everyone, but what it does do is give those that are
interested in getting wet gear the opportunity to purchase one.
On the availability, MK have an order with us for Mid July but I believe most of them are to go to Spain (strange since it does not rain that much
over there) so what I would say is call MK if you are interested and talk to them.
At last, wet weather gear for the indy... fantastic, not every one want's a 100% stripped out car that you can only use a few days a year.
Still I can't fit it as I have a Westfield screen...

Yup, i was talking to MK about there new hood at newark, cost £500 ish, Phil said that a budget of around £1000 in total for hood, windscreen, wipers,
washers, wiper motors, demisters etc. He said he would think losely about doing an all in package but would wait on how much interest there is.
Have to say, i hae 3 cars atm but only want 2. i want to keep the MK and with this hood and an MK windscreen means that the car becomes much more
useable and 'keepable' so is very much the next item on my wish list!!

,the side doors are just at the moment fixed with 4 nuts,which again can be unbolted quickly,due to having no where to store the doors on
your travels,you would have to decide if you leave them at home before you set off or not,like you would with a caterham or westfield soft top,or just
leave them on to reduce wind buffeting.
I dashed up to the show last Saturday, Unfortunately didn't see it on the stand (must of had my eyes shut) 
Should of had it outside on test!!!
I'm 6tf6, with a higher roll bar, so I'd have to go foam seat & fit the original bar back on
... and a new fuel tank to fit the filler on the rear £££
Shape wise - I don't think it looks too bad at all, from the pics!! Would have to see in the flesh (I'll open my eyes more next time)

The show car is now in the workshops at MK if you or anyone else did not see it at or did not get to the show,if you need a closer look,I know MK have
been very suprised at the amount of interest in the soft top,it appears a lot of peple have been awaiting it

Just to answer some of Skidudes questions on the hood, the fibreglass bow piece fits on the top of the windscreen when it is up, when it is down the
windscreen bow comes away from the windscreen and the hood is rolled back and stored at the back of the boot. (see pictures)
The doors are fixed to the windscreen posts using lift off hinges so the doors come off without needing to remove any screws as Paul suggested. Also
one of the big differences I found and the main reason for designing the hood was that the doors make a hugh difference to the driving experience (for
those of us that are not hardcore and like to feel the wind in our hair!!!)
As for your raised roll bar, we do not user the rollbar to support the hood we have a pram frame that lifts it about 3 inches above the standard roll
bar so I would suggest you take a look at it in MK before writing it off from a height perspective. I'm 6"2' and we designed it to fit
me and some more.

Yes, I believe they are the ones that MK are selling. Best thing is to call them and find out.

Never had wet weather gear myself. Got caught in a rainstorm once with my 5 yr old son and we both got a drenching. TBH there was no where to stop and try to erect said gear anyway so we'd have still got wet. Should have stopped in a fuel station and got undercover!
