Weather protection?
garage19 - 10/12/03 at 05:09 PM

Is there any weather protection currently available for the indy or anything that can be made to fit?
Could do with some pop on side screens to protect the missus on longer journeys.

You must be joking! I sometimes think that a seat in a MK is an optional extra. The last time I called after hearing that they might have a screen that fitted I was told that they were still waiting to get this sorted. I have fitted a Lolocost screen which is OK, and now trying to make some sidescreens so motorway miles are poss without a helmet. Will post some pics when I've got more done.....Roll on warm summer days, nothing better than leaving the Nova/Saxo boys crying in their shandy!

The raptor V8 has some nice looking frame less sidescreens, looks like the hinges attach straight onto the perspex.

You could probably make some easily, the hinges need to be stiff enough to hold the screens out while going along but should be too hard. I was thinking about it the other day and a hinge similar to one that holds the plastic cover on a turntable open, they hold in place nicely and snap into position.

Check out Surrey Dave's website for some nice sidescreens and the "Flintstone's Hood":

I'd like to try making the sidescreen frame from steel rod (about 3/16", I guess), covering it with top material, and using a sewn and zippered window like the old roadsters. Would like to attempt a top, too, but that would be further down the pike.

The coolest top I've seen on a 7 is the Superformance's:

Are there any other pictures of the Superperformance - that looks really good.

pbura - 13/12/03 at 03:57 AM

Andy, here's their website:

http://www.superformance.com/s1_more.asp

These are some nice cars!

BTW, if you ever want to know where a pic came from, just right-click on it and select 'Properties' to see the URL.

Thanks for the link Pete - I never though to look at the properties, but it only works if it is a link to a website rather than an inserted picture doesn't it?

If you get the address of the pic, you can copy and paste it into your browser bar. Then, with a little fussing around (like going up a directory level, or cutting the address off after the dot-com, or co-dot-uk, as the case may be). you can browse the site that the pic came from.

You learn these things when you waste a sh*tload of time online.

Alot of people insert them as attachments though, so it the URL would just lead to locostbuilders.co.uk

pbura - 14/12/03 at 02:08 PM

Cheers, Chris! Couple of times I tried attaching rather than linking, it didn't work for for some reason. Attaching is better cause links have a way of disappearing.

???

I thought that there used to be a way to upload a pic file to a post, doesn't seem to be there any more.

The picture gizmo on the 'Post Reply' formatting bar is an image link, meaning that the pic has to be on the Web somewhere.

greggors84 - 14/12/03 at 09:30 PM

Seems like sometimes its there and sometimes its not! I dont know if its random or we are doing somthing wrong!
