prompted by a thread in another forum, and apologies in advance for the very silly question, but can anyone recommend a set of lockable wheel nuts for my MK so that I can keep me OZ's from the toerags. I have done a quick google search but there are various types and formats. So who has any for the MK, what kind and where can I get them from?

You can have the lockable wheel nuts off my restoration project..

I have no key to remove them though....how the heck am I supposed to get the buggers off!!!!

Halfords do a good set apparently....about £29 for 4 of them with a key

McGard are a good name for locking nuts.

I'd say, for ease of use/reliability any of the ones with a heavy duty spline or flowershaped drive are OK. I'd avoid any of the small 3pin drive type as they're the ones we have most problems with breaking at work. Security wise its probably the opposite!

If you know what you're doing you can beat them all but it's not a quiet job!

I'd go for the ones with a clean outer circle but an inner toothed pattern.

I've used some ones which have a bizarre splined external appearance which requires a special socket adapter to undo them. Trouble is a pair of moles grips will grip quite nicely to the splines and off the wheels come. This isn't possible with the ones with a smooth outer surface.

To remove, you go to halford and buy a locking wheel nut remover tool. Bloody ridiculous (although very useful if you loose your key)

As for recomendations, I suggest Mcgard, mine are still nice and shiney after a couple of years of road grime and not many washes.
