I know that this question has already been answered on here, but I have tried looking and can't find the answer.

I have tried fitting the diff to my indy r chassis and after first finding I had a 7.5" diff (bummer), I have now got a 7" diff but can't seem to fit the bottom m12 threaded bar because the chassis is getting in the way. Any ideas?

Which bottom bolts are you trying to fit?

On the Indy chasis (not sure if it's the same on the R type chasis) you only fit the upper bolt and lower rear bolt. the lower front bolts are not fitted.

I didn't know there were front bolts on the diff, but if the bolts were in the diff would be be in the correct position. So without looking (work) at the diff i'm sure it's the rear one i'm trying to fit.

i think, without looking (also at work), that when i did mine i used threaded bar for the top mount and 2 m12 allen cap bolts with the nut on the outside ie. The bolts inserted facing outwards if that makes sense?

What eznfrank said, use cap head bolts instead of the long rod.

i put the two long orginal bolts, by putting the bottom one in first and then the top one in.

I managed to get both of the long bolts in and then realised after that it says in the manual to use alan key headed bolts for the top because the long one is a struggle to fit.

I used two hex head bolts modified to fit in casting so as not to turn (ground some head off load bearing surface did'nt need modifying so bolt is more than strong enough. I could not get the allan key to fit as chassis was in the way.. Tried the long bolt approach, could'nt get that in place either..

Mind you back when doing this diff is heavy could have done with two people!

Also you should pack out any space between diff and frame with washers/shims so as not to bend plates that hold diff when you do the bolts up..

I did mine the same as Dan explained above.

I have ordered the bolts and should be fitting tomorrow. Should be ok. I'll let all know tomorrow.

Fixed and secure. Used two m12 x 50mm allen head bolts.
