1997 Ford Scorpio

This evening I spotted a 1997 Ford Scorpio that was for sale.
It had a LPG-system,a manual gearbox and disc-brakes at the back. I did some searching and I found this car has a MT75 gearbox and a 4.09/4.27 diff at the back.I suppose there are not many donor parts I can use (except for the drive shafts) if I want to build a Duratec in a MK Indy Spec R ?

Are you sure about that diff ratio? That's very low (in gearing terms) for a car like that.

If the car is a 2litre 8v it wll have a 4.09:1 diff, the 4.27:1 was used with another engine variant, but I can't remember which one.

Didnt the 2ltr have a 3.92 axle, and the 2.9 a 3.62, seems to ring a bell with me?? Cheers Ray

I found some info over here:

the ratios look right to me (scorpio's are different)

the rear axle is the same as the later sierra ones (apart from the ratio) and has a 7.5" diff - not sure if that fits in the Indy or not ???

and the MT75 has an integral bellhousing that doesn't match the Duratec
(you get bellhousings for type 9 boxes, but I haven't seen an adapter for the MT75 yet)

Axle looks the same but it a wider track than the sierra by 15mm each side. So the drive shafts are also 15mm longer. Found this by fitting some to my sierra and they jammed up as there too long.

Diff is the same as the cossie 2wd, but no lsd and different ratio unless its a 24V ultima.

Mt75 is also different. The starter motor is on the opposite of the box and it has a hydro clutch.
