-ALLOY WHEELS- 13 or 15 inch?? Which make?? Advantage&Disadvantages??
ALEXARAS - 21/2/08 at 09:12 PM

Hello

I am using genuine 13inch RS2000 wheels on my locost. Does anyone know what is the weight and offset of the wheels?

I am thinking on upgrading so considering:

13inch: Compomotive CXRs 7Jfront 8Jback

15inch: Caterham wheels
15inch: Racing Dynamics 1.2

What is your opinion? Have you got any other performance wheels to suggest?

Please note that the car is used regularely both on the road and tracks.

What would you choose between 13 and 15 and why?

Generally what is the advantages and disadvantages of each dimater?

Thank you
Alex

If this is for use in Athens I'd use two pairs of rear wheels from a tractor to ensure enough ground clearance.
Used to live in Piraeus myself.

I started with 17s, dropped to 15s and am now on 13s to try and get the best acceleration possible.

I'd go with the smallest wheel that will go over the brakes, so 13" in your case.

They are lighter and have a great tyre choice available.

The RS alloys are very light for OEM items as well, I wouldn't expect a significant weight saving with the CXR's.

Thank you all for your replies.

Locost is in Greece (very few around) and have got a Rav4 for everyday use. UK plates so cops just can't do anything

To be honest i dont like the looks of the RS2000 wheels. I am buying a new body as well soon so they won't look nice. Therefore since i am upgrading i want something light which will looking nice.

In both cases 13" or 15" I will be using the Toyos 888.

13" CXRs are the same weight as the Tead Dyanmics 1.2 in 15". I don't know about the Caterham wheels, but i will have some news tomorrow.

I am not concerned so much for acceleration as for the performance on the circuit. In this case you would still say 13" (disregarding the cost of the tyres)?

For 13" what other performance wheels would you recommend (i really don't like the looks of the CXRs as well)

Oh..

Ehhm i forgot to mention that I have just ordered the Willwood 4 pot kit for M16 Escort brkaes.
So the new wheels should fit them..
