As per the title please guys and gals, I'm after a bellhousing from a Rover
V8 automatic gearbox, rear wheel drive type, not Rangerover or similar.
Cash waiting....
Thanks,
Nick.
Ifr you mean the box fitted to SD1 & P6 rovers these are Borg Warner Type 65.
Also found in ambulances.
The zf fitted to classic range rovers is much better, also fitted in other cars such as BMW's so you should be able to swap the tails across,
making a far superior solution.
Regards Mark

In that case why not the bell housing from an auto range rover, they are short on the ZF's autos.
When they fitted the manual LT77 boxes these were long, however look in other applications such as DAF vans with V8 rovers and the same box had a
shorter bell housing.

I don't know is the honest answer Mark, i'm from the offroad scene prior to kits and as i recall the ZF auto's bellhousing is huge
compared to the one i have seen on a friends kit. He told me to use auto as the manual bell housing is different where it mates with the box?
Any help is gratefully received mate, i'm new to this game!
Basically i have a good type 9 fitted and want to mate the V8 to this. My mate made an adapter plate to go between the Type 9 box and the SD1 Auto
bellhousing which worked well and utilising a Galaxy slave cylinder mounted on a spacer boss, the clutch was fairly simple to sort also.
Any other options open too me?? i'm a good listener.
I mated an Audi transaxle by cutting the front off an LT77 bell housing and welding to the front of the Audi housing.
Engine in frame
Personally I would look for an R380 box and sell on the ford box unless you have a lot of money invested in it as these are designed to take the
torque, a type 9 will struggle.
LT77's for SD1's also pop up on Ebay occasionally, they were quite widespread like this one LT77 5 Speed Gearbox Rover,
MGB GT V8 | eBay
or this ROVER SD1 V8 5 SPEED GEARBOX | eBay
The bell housing are much shorter than Rangerover/landrover items, some of these one there for stupid money
IF you could find one, then you probably want one off of a P5B, these were a relatively short auto bell- houseing, but they also had a round plate that mounted to both the auto box and the bell-housing. Trouble is these are like hens teeth these days.
