another quick q when your doing a drawing and you over lap lines how can you lock the pass over points together so you can delete what you dont want.

what version? 2d or 3d?

you use trim command in 2d.

I dont use 3d, sorry is thats no help.

Trim...enter...select the lines...right click... Then left click on the bits you want rid of

Put osnap on (bottom toolbar) and drag the point back and click to snap it where you want it


Bit hard to explain sometimes without being able to show you but does that help?

I take it you just a beginner?

Trim, extend (and offset) are the key functions in autocad, not much else you need when doing basic drawings.
Also break can be handy should you want to keep the line on both sides.
I like to use the fillet command (set to 0) to join 2 lines rather than entending/trimming.
As mentioned above try using osnap/tracking settings, especially when drawing the lines, this should allow you to 'join' them without needing to go back over them again using trim/extend.
