Windscreen Glass-Fiberglass £££
ALEXARAS - 20/4/08 at 08:56 PM

I finally decided that I need to fit a windscreen on my Locost.
What are the options here?
Which windscreen will fit? How much do they cost?
Anyfibergalss windscreens? I have seen in the past on the forum a very nice fibergalss short windscreen.
Any ideas are welcome.

Beach Buggy Rotary, which one is it, I have a GP LWB?

You can make a plywood template and get the glass cut by a windscreen place, £70-90.

Fiberglass windscreen? Wind deflector you mean?? Either Perspex or acrylic can be used, cut it out with a jig saw.

A number of options are available:

Mangogrooveworkshop does "real" windscreens - or used to, at least

You could make a very short screen out of fibreglass, but you wouldn't be able to see anything through it! The usual for flyscreens is polycarbonate (e.g. Lexan) which is shatterproof

Aeroscreen is more aerodynamic and smoother looking

Or Brooklands type screen like old fashioned cars.

You can make a simple (ie flat) aeroscreen from some plexiglass or lexan.

For a "proper" metal-framed windscreen you're either rolling your own and getting some glass made up (cutting down a flat Fiat Panda (old style) screen works IIRC) or (depending on your scuttle shape) using a Lolocost screen, or a Cateringvan screen, or a Westfield screen....

Who made your scuttle?

I've generally found a proper aeroscreen is far nicer to drive with than a full windscreen - much less buffeting (unless sidescreens are used too).

I fitted one off ebay to the Supercat - is this the sort of thing you are thinking of when you say a fibreglass one??

We are not doing singles anymore.
I have a few orders to finnish and the last screen to be done will be my own.
Only batch orders will be entertained as well as that the ali is a nightmare to get in any quantity and at a reasonable price

Thank you very much for your replies.
I finally ordered a Panther GTS bodywork and got the suitable windscreen from Razman.
