I take it that there is no Harrogate show this year.

I think its about time we sorted a MNR plus friends, ( other Kits) weekend. We talked about it a few months back but I think we need to set a date.
So I propose that we set a date around July, if people could check what is on that month.
Location , Harrogate / Ripon/ Knaresborough.
How do people feel about camping or hotel. Meet on the Friday night or Saturday am
run out on Saturday plus visit to MNR, barbeque on Saturday night., Home Sunday.
We can open it up to other car owner if they would like to come along.
ANYONE UP FOR IT?
We Have 3 MNR cars in Hartlepool now and a couple of other cars who would like to come along.

Yep spoke to mark a couple of months back he was up for it. just need to set a date.

MNR meet sounds great, starting build shortly (due to collect in a week) so may be on road, but would try to attend anyway. Plus its local for me also (30 miles, so should get the tyres warm).

Your other option is to couple it up with another show - eg Newark. Newark is also proving to be a regular Mac#1 gathering as well. The bigger the party the better i say

Sorry , But I did not mean a Show . I just meant a overnight stop where around 20 or more kit cars could meet up over the weekend. We could organized our own run out Plus a stop a mnr on the way back. A barbeque on the Sat night and home on Sunday.
If people agreed to a Camping weekend it could be quiet a cheep 2 days. Won’t break the bank. ( keep the wife happy). We would have 8 months to plan, I think we could organize a fun packed weekend. There are a number of sites around that area, so I am sure we could find one with secure parking and a club on site.

I'm up for a camping weekend, somwhere in the Midlands would be good for everyone, I think linking it with a show or trackday would be good.

I'd be up for it - mine WILL be on the road before then.

plenty of places near us combined with a dales run out , well up for that ( could combine with a bbq open day or something at the workshop ( plenty of parjking available, couple of campsites within ( 5 miles also ) have statics too if you not a tent person, for a midlands type event we could also do newark ( dont mind paying for an owners area and a barbeque and beers etc )

I would think Start the run from the camp site around 11.00am this will give people time to arrive if they didn’t stop over. We could also meet cars at different location on the run. Approx 1 hour 30min runs with 3 stops to regroup calling at MNR around 1.30pm / 3pm travel back to site arrive 4.00pm.
If people would like to help out please let me know. Eg: look at camp sites costs, availability. Organize the run.
Once the date has been set, we need to start confirming who will be coming along.
I would thing it would probably mean a small deposit to the camp site. SO GET YOUR HOLIDAY BOOKED IN AT WORK.

I'm also up for the trip along with my mate Fencewrecker. My MNR may not be ready but will definitely drive up from 'darn sarf' and may be able to borrow a camper that will sleep four inside and four outside (under enclosed awning) if anyone needs somewhere to kip. Any one else from down south interested in driving up?

I hope it doesn’t turn out like the top Gear camping trip.

Although I like driving it, 5 hours up the motorway is a bit much.
I still fancy combining it with a trackday if anyone else is up for it. Anyone know a good trackday in the area?

It may be a good idea to trailer, after a couple of hours on the motorway in a bike engined car you do need ear plugs.
It would be nice to see at least 20 mnr cars together for a photo shoot. I am sure there will be lots of other cars joining us to.

i'd come over for that, but since i don't get my kit till feb i doubt i'll be with car!

Even if you have not got the car finished you are still welcome. It will give you a few ideas looking at the other cars. They shoud be plenty of opportunity to have a run round in a few of the cars , Mark might even take you out. ( Bring plenty of clean underwear).
If we get plenty of people coming along to this gathering we may have 2 per year .
One up hear and one down there.

yer i had a quick ride with mark just before i decided i had to have one, so i know what you mean

Is there any chance still of us tying this in with a trackday? Some of us (okay, maybe one of us) aren't building road cars.

Once we have the date set and people sign up to the weekend, we will look at what we can arrange for the group over the 1 or 2 days. The weekend will include a run out stopping at designated points to collect other enthusiasts, re group along the way and finishing at MNR. Photo shoot, Barbeque and a run to the pub on the night. Anything else would need to be agreed by the group. Open to any suggestions?

I’ve hade a few enquiries regarding people turning up just for the run. No problem, the more the merrier, I am aware that camping is not for everyone and some people find it difficult to get away for the night. So, we will have a central starting point starting around 12.00 and a couple of pickup points around the route. Any other people interested in coming along please let me know and this will give me a indication what size campsite we will need to book,

Ive managed to get a message to Steve up the road from me and he is up for it - just waiting for date before putting name down.

Guys ... I'm trying to organise a trip to MNR to view/try the cars and get rid of the deposit cheque, that is burning a hole in my pocket ...

My problem is I know how to get to Manchester airport, from there on i'm lost!! Anybody can give me clues about trains/buses? Don't mention renting a car ... I'll get lost and probably in debt with speeding tickets by the time i get there.

I'm guessing flight to Leeds/Bradford, Train to Harrogate, Bus to Darley and Taxi from there. Although a taxi from Harrogate may be an alternative. Best give them a call and ask!

You could always use a hire car and a GPS, that'll show you the way AND warn you of tax cameras!

I wouldnt be surprised if MNR would try and pick you up from somewhere since you are making such a great effort to go and visit them. If i was you id try and call them to arrange the trip and have fingers crossed that they wil offer.

I have a mate who specialises in re-chassising land rover's. He has had a couple of LR's over from Norway and has taken the guys either to the airport or train station so they can get back home while work is done.

Yes Chris at MNR has offered to pick me up from Leeds/Bradford when I enquired a long while back. Unfortunately, the airline i work for doesn't do scheduled flights to LBA, so Manchester is my only option, if i want to travel cheap

I really don't want to get in the way of MNR's work schedule, so if i can make my own way to Harrogate at least it would help.

When is the MNR 'Raduno' (read as - meet up) going to be held?

I’m starting to look at Camp sites, If Elvington track day comes off great if not we need to decide on a Central site. I have had a reply back from Rudding Park. They normally don’t accept groups but due to us been old and quiet folk they will. It is a large park with pub, pool, golf course, and is 5 star rated. 9 don’t forget your Zimmer frame)
If anyone knows of a good camp site with Pub can you get some info, so we can make a choice in January and get it booked.

I have been looking into some possible Camp Sites we could stay at, most sites have a minimum of a 2 night stay. So I am proposing that it would be a FRI / SAT.
(Fri) All Meet at camp site, (Fri Night) meeting in the Pub re: run.
(Sat) the main run out across the dales then on to MNR,
(Sat Night) Barbeque. /

OK to the dales as long as there are plenty of fuel Stops.

Due to rug rat unsure if the Kit car fund will run to a track day but if possible I am happy to spanner for the day.

Just a quick up date on the 2008 dales Camping weekend. Although I have not had any response from MNR yet re: open day, I am going ahead with the camping weekend . I am in negotiations with Rudding camp site one of the best in the area. I am looking at a 2 night stay fri 18th July to Sat 19th July. Can people check there diaries and let me know if this weekend is ok. For those people who don’t want to camp and would just like to come along for the run out we hope to start the run on the Saturday around 11.00am. Meeting at several collection points around the run. I am looking at no more than 30 cars, so get your holidays booked in and get your place booked.

The last time I spoke to Chris he told me they were planning the open day for the 20th July so your dates tie in perfect. Give them a call and find out the details.

If the dates above turn out to be the correct ones I should be able to make it.

If I do come over then I would be happy to pick up Clutch_Kick so that MNR don't have to leave their workshop to do so.....

But if I was carrying an extra passenger, tent space in my car will be a bit too limited???
