"Belly Tank" refers to the fact that the originals were made from old aeroplane belly tanks or auxiliary fuel tanks.
That's where the car body comes from hence why it's such an aerodynamic shape
"Belly racer" as in made from the supplementary fuel "belly" tanks that were suspended below a fighter plane in the 40's.
They were salvaged and used to make aero car bodies.

Wonder what the heater motor driven distributor and spark plug in the exhaust is for????
Probably to fire the afterburners.....I saw this car, in much the same condition at Burford Country Park about 20 years ago.....
Pre SVA/IVA would make a grear road car.
