too hard!

daytime - bright eyes, modest mouse, siouxsie and the banshees, sigur ros, interpol

nightime - benga, rusko, caspa, crookers, hexadecimal

flak monkey - 31/8/09 at 03:13 PM

Hmm difficult one that one....

Iron Maiden have to be one of the best show bands of all time.

Along with the earlier days of Metallica.

Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society and Ozzy)

speedyxjs - 31/8/09 at 03:35 PM

Mine would probably be old nightwish (the days before annette olzen) or After Forever but there are too many to choose from

lotusmadandy - 31/8/09 at 03:43 PM

Has to be AC/DC for me like,
Hells Bells and Highway to hell are classics

I'll have to chip in and say Iron Maiden have always been an amazing show to go and see - must've seen them 20 odd times by now? Deep Purple rock, and Alice Cooper never fails to put on a show to remember!

In an ideal world, I'd love to see Pink Floyd live but that's not really going to happen so I'm going to put a note in now for 'The Australian Pink Floyd'. Ok, so they're not the real thing, but they probabyl do Floyd better than Floyd do. Utterly amazing.

Ed.

As requested:
- Link to David Glimour playing High Hopes...

And while we're on the subject: Ludovico Einaudi is an amazing musician.
- Here's a link...

And then of course, my favourite band ever - Opus Jinks (with me on bass!)
- Shameless plug...

Ed

they were great links mate. the last 5 minutes of gilmour doing that song are amazing! the other 2 links were also good. im with you on floyd thing also. i would love to see them but it wont happen.

Madinventions - 31/8/09 at 04:35 PM

I really must make the effort to go an experience Gilmour live while the oppurtunity still exists. Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever and it'd be worth every penny to just see him live once.

Ed.

coozer - 31/8/09 at 05:12 PM

Metallica here, the unannounced afternoon performance in the Scuzz tent at Download was the LOUDEST I have ever heard any band and take it for me.

Same day One Minute Silence were awesome on the main stage.

1984 Monsters of Rock was a superb gig for AC/DC as well, I managed to get me face on the Old Grey Whistle Test at that show

One of the best gigs i've been to was randomly at glastonbury late on friday night this year.

3 blokes in the Avalon cafe at midnight. One had a washboard, one an accoustic guitar and one a large stick with string that he twanged as a base. Can't for the life of me remember their name but excellent - one tip, don't see them when they're drunk. Saw them the next night, they where hammered and awful!!!!! (they did warn us on the friday but we ignored them).

Gogol Bordello are also amazing live - but seem the in a smaller venue. 10 minute, 1 song encore and still think it was amazing.

All time fav's has to be the wonderstuff. See them live about once a year and come away very happy & smiley.

That is one of my all time favourite songs

RichardK - 31/8/09 at 06:21 PM

The Jam (Paul Weller) remember singing with them in Newcastle City Hall years ago (1980) . Was a great night.

Cheers

It's not really right to pin it down to one artist/band as like most folk my musical taste varies a lot but if had to pick one then it's got to be Springsteen, if you want a showman then he really knows how to perform.

delboy - 31/8/09 at 06:34 PM

I'd second Springsteen and the E street band. Saw them a few weeks ago at Hampden Park and would have to say that it was probably the best gig I've ever seen. A band at the very top of their game with one of the best front men in the business.

Some of the Punk bands around '87, '88 were pretty good, stuff like Rollins Band, Snuff, Instigators, Nomeansno, Fugazi. Also the Metal bands of the same era, Nuclear Assault gigs were just chaos, Maiden, Anthrax.

Gwar are good for a laugh, and Motorhead are always worth a punt.

Benzine, playing this to my 6 year old, he's finding it hilarious.
