This is not a major dig but am i the only person that thinks it might be better to add a price to things if you are selling them ?

I find it really difficult when something comes up for sale that im interested in but would rather not make an 'Offer' if it turns out im well stingy & the person selling is expecting much more for it.

As i said, its no major dig or anything, im not trying to put anyones noses out of joint, i was just wondering if its only me that would kinda like a rough idea of what someone wants for an item.

I have seen people put stuff up for sale & say "if ive overpriced this please let me know", to me, thats a really fair thing to post up if you genuinly dont know what the market value is. Also people quite often ask what somethings worth, once again, fair comment if you really dont have a clue.

I agree up to a point.

I most certainly like to see a price on whatever you are planning to buy, then you can -er- plan the buying....

But the 'point' is where the seller either truly doesn't know the value of an item he / she is selling, or simply wants to get rid of something that's in the way, at whatever it fetches - ie you stick it on the 'bay at 99p and see what happens?

no i agree, if you are selling something you should put a price.
If you don't know what it's worth, do some research, you won't be the first person to have ever sold one.
Even if this doesnt return anything you must have an idea of what you want for it.

Personally i have ignored threads before with no price even though i would have quite liked to buy it.

Other forums ban adds that don't have a price, it's not a bad practice for most stuff but unfinished kit cars etc are hard to value.

Much prefer an open cost for an item.

A much sought after item can almost become an auction, especially with blind U2U messages. I am sure everyone on here would be honest, but it could also be a good way of upping an offer from someone, by "implying" that another has "bid" higher....

I agree, even if good old fasioned o.n.o comes into it, at least it saves a embarrasing low offer on either sded and the seller doing when I said serious offers bla bla rant"

Offers should mean if offer you £100 for your Ferrari it's a serious offer, you may think it's too low, but if you do then give me an idea what you do want me to offer!

It winds me up a little

on the honda s2000 forum you must list a price or the item is removed almost instantly. you also need to provide a tracking number within 7 days or refund.

I definately agree that its hard to value, say an unfinished kit or a special engine build etc & thats fair enough, also selling a car or something with an ONO is no real problem because you have given a price but said your open to offers.

Got to agree, it almost seems as if sellers are being a bit shifty if they don't give a guide price which is a shame as that's probably not true (although I bet I've been guilty of it myself)

I'm in agreement here. All sellers should give an idication of price otherwise it should go on eBay or other auction @ 99p start and no reserve.
