You would have to be stark raving mad to fly one of those things!! ............ I want one

How the hell do you stop yourself spinning round? There seems to be no tail rotor or contra rotating blades!

i want one too!!

RazMan - 11/3/06 at 11:42 AM

Looks like there are two rotors - you can just see them at certain angles.

It's a contra rotating rotor with two off the shelf composite UL propellers from IVO prop.
The engine is a go-kart 125 cc watercooled unit from Rotax I believe.
The rotorhead to make the two prop's spin in different directions is very basic and simple and uses 4 conical gears, not unlike the set up in a car differential.
Yaw is controlled by the little rudder in the back.
This is possibly the most simple helicopter to ever really fly, albeit in ground effect, and with just a little more power this could be a real fun toy to build/own/fly.

I have some detailed pictures of the rotorhead but I'm to stupid to know how to make the pictures smaller.
I've tried to upload them but they are obviously too big.
Bummer....or stupid me

That's manic, I love flying machine stuff especially the home made variety.

Anyone watch "Mythbusters" on Discovery ?

They built one of these things, looked like certain death to me, but it wouldn't take off, even with a MUCH lighter/more powerful engine than the plans called for...

I want one too
