What have I done ?
Jon Ison - 4/7/07 at 10:25 AM

For a while now we have had a holiday booked early September, several times SWIMBO as suggested it could be an honeymoon..........

Well I am now reliably informed on Friday the 31st of August I need a new suit as apparently I have done naff all to organise it so she as.......

Some of you who know me will know that I did receive a wedding ring 18 months ago as a birthday present, I obviously didn't take the hint strong enough, but I did have cars to work on at the time.........

What does the standard CofE wedding service say? ...should not be entered into lightly, or without due thought, but with respect and with the intention of sharing in each others happiness... or by accident

wilkingj - 4/7/07 at 11:40 AM

Ah... Does this all mean the wife wants you to marry your car?

Is that whats she has been hinting about.

My Advice:
As it invariably ends in divorce, just find a woman you dont like and buy her a house

Good luck with whatever you end up doing.

Congratulations!
I got told we were getting married, by my SWMBO as well.
Been together 35 years now. It's still brilliant. Don't listen to the cynical element. Like anything else, it's what you make it. You get out of it what you put into it.

worX - 4/7/07 at 01:37 PM

I've been told the same thing Jon - but I've got until next year sometime september/october ish...

Wel Congratulations Jon (I think).

Mike400 - 4/7/07 at 02:00 PM

Well I would say congratulations........but not too sure you would feel the same way!!!!

Ive been married 3 years, and at risk of sounding soppy, its still the best thing I ever done.

Having said that I managed to marry someone who doesn't mind all my "projects and ideas for projects"!!!!

Seriously though, marriage is a big commitment, unless there are shotguns and angry relatives involved, only go for it if you are 110%

Oh and dont listen to anyone moaning about it. It really is what you make of it. Only problem is you cant really sort out the faults with a socket set and a club hammer.....(unless u fancy time "inside"!)

DaveFJ - 4/7/07 at 02:58 PM

say fairwell to thongs and a big hello to MASSIVE pants....

but congrats anyway

graememk - 4/7/07 at 03:00 PM

run away and change your name.....

all the best

Jon Ison - 4/7/07 at 03:32 PM

To be fair we have lived together that long people think we are married anyway.

She's followed and supported me through thin & thiner during my racing days, was the one that urged me to go and buy the isonblade back so cant be all bad.....

Will check the draw for massive knickers though, don't want her getting that idea.

chockymonster - 4/7/07 at 03:35 PM

Ha!
you can't even say it was the last decision you ever made! (I know it was mine )

andrew.carwithen - 4/7/07 at 04:05 PM

Tee Hee, Congratulations....

Actually,I'm in a similar situation...

After being together now for 26 years and having turned down her proposal of marriage several times in the past (just about every leap year since we've been together!)
I finally succumbed by saying 'If you organise it, luv, then I'll turn up!...'
That was about two years ago and I thought I had got away with it until she announced she'd called my bluff and has booked it for the 18th August!
I'm nothing, if not a man of my word, so now I've got used to the idea, I'm looking forward to it (as are the kids!).
Its just a pity that the date clashes with the new football season and I'm gonna miss Argyle's first league home game - something I haven't done for many a year!
Bleddy women...ought to get their priorities right! Still,....she's good with the kids! :

Andy.

She sounds like a top woman mate and from these two quotes you've no need to be afraid you've defo found the right one.
GOOD LUCK.
